Love for the fly
The man you see fishing here, is a good friend of mine. He has the fishing vibe in him from his childhood. Fishing is not just a hobby it is "The hobby"! Last week he was fishing in France and caught some trout with a spinner. But that was just too easy for him. The only real fishing for him, is fishing with the fly. Like you see him doing on this picture. The art of fly fishing is dropping the fly on the water just in the way a real fly would drop on to the water, and that just on the right spot.
It took him a while, because it was a very hard spot to fish, but he did catch some trout with the fly too.
That was a real catch for him!

I am fishing for years and fly fishing in my opinion is the king of fishing. It has so many things to be careful about and trout is so sensitive that not everyone can learn that. I get his point for changing gears though.
I have never done fly fishing... I must admit to myself, I am too clumsy for fly fishing! ;-)
