MVP of the finals!

Emma Meesseman and Kim Mestdagh, two "girls", or maybe it's better to say big girls, from my neighbourhood here in West-Flanders just won the WNBA title last night. How incredible is that? They both were born less than 40 km from my doorstep and are now "ring bearers". Hence, the ring every player gets for winning the title in the WNBA or NBA or even NFL...

What's even more sensational is that Emma Meesseman was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the Finals in WNBA. That has never been won by a European player before, let alone a Belgian. And it was a correct decision. She played astonishingly well. Scoring, rebounding, blocking and giving assists. She went up front in the battle an took home the difficult games. Especially last night. She brought the Washington Mystics back in the game, when they were 9 points down in the 3rd quarter. With 11 points for her in that quarter.

Kim Mestdagh didn't play in the Finals, but did in the regular season, so this victory is as much hers as an other team mate. I am really proud of these ladies, You have to do it, conquer the American public and an winning the most precious title in female basketball.

So, last night, the Belgian football team won 9-0 against San-Marino, which is a monster score, but who is on the front page of every sports site today? Emma Meesseman and Kim Mestdagh, and that is more than justified!
