Daily Celestial Challenge, Sunday : Light
Hello everyone, here is my entry for the #celestialchallenge introduced by @sirknight. I'll be discussing briefly on Solar energy.
The solar energy is a form of technology used to harness the sun's energy making it usable.
It drives clean, pure energy from the sun. This greatly helps to combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduce or collective dependence on fossil fuel.
In addition to this, these traditional form of electricity from fossil fuel emits harmful gases that are the main cause of air pollution and global warming.
The use of solar energy greatly combats this problem. These has been greatly achieved by the use of the solar panels. Various techniques are used to concentrate the sun's energy as a heat source and this used to either boil water on a small scale or drive a steam turbine and generate electricity for thousands of people on a large scale.
Drawbacks
- It doesn't work at night without a storage device (battery)
- Cloudy weather makes the technology unreliable
- It's expensive.
Despite all these drawbacks, the advantages supersedes the drawbacks. There is practically no greenhouse emission from solar power.
If we adopt this source of power, we all would be able to combat climate changes at an individual and national level.
