3 Foods to Stay Away From (Part 2)...Controversial!steemCreated with Sketch.

Hey guys I'm coming back at you with a Part 2 of 3 Foods to Stay Away From. Some of the info might surprise you or you may not agree with the list. Please comment with any thoughts. Let's have at it...

Number 1: Conventional Peanut Butter (Type found on supermarket shelves ex Skippy). Lets take a closer look at some the ingredients in a jar of "peanut butter."
Jif Ingredients (link below)
Made From Roasted Peanuts And Sugar, Contains 2% Or Less Of: Molasses, Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed And Soybean), Mono And Diglycerides, Salt.

Lets break down the problems with these ingredients.
Sugar adds unnecessary "empty" calories on your body. Too much sugar can lead to weight gain and a variety of diseases such as diabetes. Some conventional peanut butter also uses High Fructose Corn Syrup which is much more unhealthy compared to sugar. You want peanut butter that does NOT add sugar.
I already talked about some of the harmful effects of Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils in my 1st Part of this post so I won't mention it here
Mono And Diglycerides: Trans fats are dangerous to your health. The FDA requires labeling for trans fat content, but only if it contains more than .49 g per serving, and only if it comes from triglycerides. Now Big Industry started using monoglycerides and diglycerides so they aren’t required to label the food as containing trans fats. This means you can be eating trans fats all due to a loophole exploited by big food companies.
If you choose to eat peanut butter, make sure to look at the ingredients. You want to see Peanuts and Sea Salt or just Peanuts if you want to avoid the salt. Or better yet, choose almond butter or cashew butter because they are healthier choices for your body.

Number 2 Whole Wheat Bread. Much of the modern wheat we eat today is much different from traditional wheat. The wheat now has been genetically modified to increase yield. The yield is high, but the quality is low. It contains gluten that may affect people who have gluten sensitives or it can cause inflammation issues. Wheat also contains leptin. Leptin may cause an immune response in the body which over time could even lead to auto immune disease. Wheat also has a bigger glycemic load/effect on the body compared to eating table sugar. On the Glycemic Index Table Sugar has a level of 66-69 on the scale; Wheat Bread is 77-80 on the scale. Finally, wheat breads found in the supermarket shelves may be loaded with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and preservatives. Try to avoid wheat bread or at least eat in moderation and choose a product that does not use high fructose corn syrup.

Number 3 Corn/Grain Fed Beef. Cows are meant to eat grass, their bodies are not designed to digest corn. Corn fed to cows are highly genetically modified foods lacking proper nutrition. As a result, the meat of the cow increases in Omega 6 Fatty Acids in the muscle tissue. This means you are eating more fatty acids that are pro-inflammation. Corn fed beef has been known to use high levels of antibiotics on their meat because the cows are sick. We don't want to eat things that are sick. Instead you should stick to eating pasture raised/grass fed cows. Grass fed cow meat has a much healthier Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio which means healthier for your body. You are also eating meat that isn't "sick."

Bread is more harmful if we eat it on a empty stomach

Very good tip. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think it's necessarily fair to say that one should avoid these foods, maybe to just slightly reduce consumption on account of calories more than anything else.

I do agree with you. Try looking for alternatives that are healthy. eg look for Peanut butter that contains only peanuts (no hydrogenated oil, no salt) and instead of wheat bread, switch to multi-grain bread, that doesn't contain wheat flour. My major source of carbs and fats come from these two. You can always chose healthy foods.

Always a good idea to eat everything in moderation. Thanks for the comment.

Yeah, true and it takes some courage to get the word out. It's not always popular. What we don't digest properly can and will be used against us. There's a law, and ignorance of the law is no excuse.

This is why I have white beard most of the time

I completely agree with the 3 points.
1 out of 3 I am doing already. No more Conventional Peanut Butter for years now!

Number 2 Whole Wheat Bread: I reduced this one 2 month ago. It is quite hard but I was able to reduce it. Next step is to avoid it comepletely. But that's a hard fight :)

Number 3 Corn/Grain Fed Beef Cows: I kindy fail in this one right now. Hopefully in the future I can focus on pasture raised/grass fed cows. But first of all I will read more about it.
The Omega 6 Fatty Acids made me curious.
Thanks for the information @pbgreenpoint.

  1. I do not like peanut butter, so I don't eat it :)

  2. Reduced bread drastically for like 2 months now.

  3. Gotta research and find the cows with the right feeding

thanks for the share

Looks like you're already trending in the right direction. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for reading. Good luck with your readings
