I know many software developing students, and some developers.. Great people, great people.. programming has infinite potential, but it needs to be brought together with other systems.. problem today is that there's no giant scale epic projects with lots of brainpower to produce something awesome.
There's the BOINC project. It helps humanity by doing research in science and medicine, as well as other stuff like math and astronomy. You should take a look into that :)
Thank you for the information, I'm always mapping these kinds of interesting projects. Perhaps one day they will all coalesce in to a giant network of ethical organisations which will cure the spiritual sickness of the world.
