The existence of cryptocurrency have been considered as a successful battle of owning funds and initiation of financial transactions anonymously in the eyes of blockchain novice but definitely not a reality to expertises.

Satoshi Nakomoto programmed Bitcoin with this goal but with time, it power in such angle have gradually reduce as there is rapid growth in blockchain technology. Many expertise regard Satoshi’s discovery as less private because anybody can have access to it data since its transaction is recorded on a public blockchain. Although public blockchain seems so complex to trace the initiators but not an impossible task.

Government have create top security service and recruit blockchain experts in order to trace money laundering around a region that exists between fiat currency and cryptocurrency. Example: Officers of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) in cryptocurrency. However, this occurrence lead to the programming of cryptocurrencies that are far more secretive than satoshi’s technology which is called Privacy Coin.

Privacy Coins

This can be defined as cryptocurrencies that their blockchain address are private I.e the transaction done on it are obfuscate such that nobody can trace the send or receiver.

Unlike a Bitcoin and it counterparts that uses public blockchain that a transaction can be traced, a privacy coin maintain 100% secrecy and undetectable transaction records when a thirds party attempt to analyze it.

Features of Privacy coin

In order to achieve it operation, privacy coin blockchain features are different from public blockchain.

These features are:

• Ring signatures

Coin-join

This refers to the merging of different transacted coin address in order to create and obscure record against any transaction tracking.

Stealth address

This refers to a method of hiding transaction record in which a sender have to create a one-time operation new address each time a transaction is made.

zk-SNARK

This refers to a process of verifying a transaction without exposure of the initiator’s details. This is acronym means Zero knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Augment of Knowledge).

Ring signature

This refers to a type of signature which one user in a group can sign the transaction because every user own a personal copy. This operation is to hide the identity of the exact user that singed it.

Why some exchanges does not trade privacy coins

Removal of privacy coins from most exchanges is as a result of the ban law made by government of a particular region. It is believed that most successful terrorism funding and money laundering are done with privacy coins. Right now, the American government have decide to reward a blockchain expertise that will track transactions on privacy coins a whopping amount of about $600 000.

Exchanges such as Coinbase and Gemini have delist Monero, Beam, verge and Dash.
