Removing My Steem Related Course From Udemy
Last year I published a free course on Udemy about Steem. Understanding the STEEM blockchain economy. The aim of this course was to help steem users understand the likes of Resource Credits, Voting mana, the different coins and how things are calculated. I was also hoping to gain future exposure for Steem by publishing this course free on Udemy.
For me it was a successful experience. 1746 students signed up for the course. You can see from the image I reached many parts of the globe.
From this 219 student became active and 5195 minutes of content were absorbed (it's only a 60 min course)
I need to work on my engagement a little, but overall most student were happy
40% of the traffic to the course was referred by search ( giving steem that little bit of exposure) and 68% of the traffic converted to students.
In addition to this, for the last number of months I have given out 50SP in delegation to those completing the course for a 4 week period.
The report on the course seems rather good, so why am I taking it down?
Upcoming Changes and HF21
There is currently a hardfork proposal under discussion that that will materially change the content of this course. If the full proposal is accepted many calculations right down to the distribution of new coins issued will change.
Due to these material changes I don’t think I should continue to teach, what is now becoming outdated. Even if the HF takes some time to be rolled out, I still feel taking the course down now, is better than telling new steem users, oh learn this now but soon, I don’t know how soon, this is all going to change.
I will also not be giving out any further delegations to those completing the course, however those with current delegation will keep for their 4 week period.
If you have been a student on this course I would like to thank you very much for learning with me. If you have been promoting this course to steem users, thank you very much for your support. Lets see what changes are rolled out and we can take a new direction from there 😊
Hey @paulag. I took the course and actually watched it during my commute on the tube. I've used that knowledge since then to earn some Steem, make a small following of people and make friends - find a community. Thanks very much for the time you took to design the course, and for making it free.
you are most welcome, I am glad you found it to be of value

I am also one of the newbies who learned the theory behind steem by taking your course. I also got the 50 sp delegated after completing it. Tried to support your course posts each week.
Thanks a lot for everything @paulag. As you can see I’m still here, and not planning to leave any time soon :P

your support was most welcome. I am glad there were a few gems that took the course ;-)
It just shows there is a real demand for steemit education and people are looking for knowledge that is curated and easy to digest. I'm sure once the dust settles you can rehash and make the changes you need to
Now with all the sub-communities, there's, even more, you can do like advanced courses and such.
Thank you so much for participating in the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!

That must be a setback for many newcomers until you comes back with new course based on the modification. Hope everything will be alright very soon so that people-like you could concentrate on the good aspect of steem life.
As I am one of your benificiary I know very well now about how much change it can be brought to one person's approach to steemit performance.
Let's hope for Best always... Thanks again.
Cheers.

Sincerely it was an enlighten course which showed newbies the way forward and on top of it you showed more support by delegating some steem to them to carry along for 4 weeks.
Thanks for the huge support and I hope you would document another for the upcoming HF21
