How I make +$3000 on one post, time after time

in #steemit9 years ago

 Not….

But be warned, this scam is coming to Steemit and here is how it plays out…..

A post is created that generates interest with both new and old Steemains. It’s created by a fantastic Marketer, so tactics are used. The post is something that plays with the hearts of the entire community, a post that will gain trust by ‘Giving back to the community’. Excitement will be achieved by throwing around lose facts and figures .

This post has be carefully created and has already won your hearts ( and votes….and money….)

So a second post is done, to capitalize on this. More excitement, more figures and numbers, more to give back to the community…more votes…more comments….. Soon after you will see a post that will resemble

How I make +$3000 on each post

Then you will see another post

 How I make +4000 a post….

And the ball will be rolling. These post will bring a series of copycats. Why well because people think they can replicate success. And these articles will tell you that you can do it to, just follow the same steps

The thing is, I have seen this happen before.

I have been working online since 2010. During this time I have come across all sorts of communities and all sorts of characters. Take it from me, it can be hard work to make a living online.

One online community I am heavily involved in is the Online Instructor Community and Udemy. I have been with Udemy since 2013 and have been there for the good and the rough times. And this scam I speak of was widely used on Udemy for some time. Until Udemy mostly banned the practice.

The site first became flooded with ‘How I make 20000 student a course on Udemy’ and followed with How I make $10,000 a month on Udemy. A series of copycat course became available and Udemy was just full of crap.

For hard working instructors like me, and I know with my peers, this was the start of the downturn on Udemy. When hard working instructors like me then found out that some of these marketers were also purchasing ratings and reviews for their course, Udemy stepped in and made serious changes.

It was only then Udemy got good again! Look these are promises of get rich schemes. All you have to do is copy me and you will be rich…..if you see these posts, don’t waste your vote on them. First to the bat will win, and the ball is already rolling. Copycats won’t get rich quick, unless you are the first or second…

You might not agree, and that is okay. You might think I am a begrudger, why not take the opportunity if you can? Well my answer to that is the community, and what I believe our common goal is. To share good quality content out of passions, to enrich our selves by sharing and gaining knowledge with those that have common interests. To interact as a community for the good of all.

So I put this to you all reading this…..

I put this to all new Steemains, to @teutorigos, @mossinator and I put this to some experienced Steemains @papa-pepper @always1success @edtorrez

Are these the types of posts wanted here on Steemit?

Can you see the danger I see? Or do you just think I am mad?

Very thoughtful and well written. Im totally agree with you. A platform can only grow with users who share valuable thoughts. However, it all depends on users whether they want to keep it substainable. Content farm materials will kill the platform by losing users interest. We have facebook as our example.

The community will bash these scam techniques used by these people 😬🙌🏼

I hope so, because a wave is coming. I have crossed paths with these people before and it was to my horror I spotted them here. I am only new here, I nearly turned away because of it....

I am also new.... There will always be some scammers anywhere we go lol

My post don't play with the heart of Steemian... but with other! Ahah

Up vote, you figure out how to keep out the Riffraff, plagiarism and bullshit we will be friends for life. Some people should spend their time writing articles and some should spend their time reading articles. I was just saying the same thing in a comment the other day. I guess were just supposed to assume that every person on here is telling the truth and never question motives. What drives me absolutely nuts is people asking for money. I guess I trust them because I know their motives right off, Its the snake in the grass lying in wait...

Steemit is different to other communities I belong to, I am still trying to get my head around it, so coming up with a way to keep it out, right now is a little outta my league here

What has worked in the past is the community, I hope that the hard working people on Steemit pull together and everyone plays a part in keeping it out...

Maybe a WhistleBlower account, if there is not one already?

Thanks for your comment @qwasert, I have followed you, hope you will do the same

PS, I resteemed this also!

it's done ;) follow me back ;)

followed :-)

Great article. In fact when I first googled Steemit last year I got a link for a site where the person was willing to sell a course to tell you how to make $$$ on Steemit.

One of the killer features of Steemit, in my mind, is the opportunity for you to build trust online with this platform. A user achieves this trust through a combination of investment in money, investment in time, connections and transparency. This combination has created a global online community which will act as a strong line of defence against the type of threat you talk about. But as you pointed out, I am also sure there will be scammers, fake accounts, people looking for money. There will be even new types of threats that other online communities don't face.

So true @eroche, thanks for your feedback. Yes its funny how these courses pop up
