THE LAMENTATIONS OF A DAY-DREAMER

Sitting the whole day pondering on the good things he wishes to have he is greatly consumed by sorrow.
He wants to be the boss and not to be the one always to borrow.
He is sleeping in his bed till nightfall from the time the roosters crow
Needs are mounting up always against him in unending row.
His bones are so weak as if they have no marrow.
He can’t do anything about today because he is always waiting for tomorrow.
He feels so helpless and to move him from his bed you have to push him in a wheelbarrow.

Don’t forget that I’m talking about the day-dreamer.
He laments deeply because his future continually gets dimmer.
He wonders why his life is different from that of the dreamer.
He doesn’t notice that in the hands of the dreamer there is a timer.

The dream might be the same but what makes them different is who works it out.
The dreamer is determined but the day-dreamer is stout.
He wants to have a good life but his mind is always consumed with doubt.
He also wants to ‘chop some money’ but his life is a drought.
He wants a luxury car, mansion and food on his table but poverty holds him tight.

When he considers all this, his heart cries until it faints.
Looking at the trouble surrounding him, he fearfully pants.
The life he dreams of daily in his mind he paints.
But his hands are so weak and he is so lazy that he feels so inferior and small like ants.

His wife and children call him dad.
But he feels like he is just as good as dead.
Only if he knew that even the blood of the rich like his is also red
He would have woken up from his slumber and do what they also did.
And he would be comforted with the things over which he cried.
He laments yet he has never tried.
In his sorrow and shame he is daily fried.
He is just a day-dreamer and that’s why he cries because his hope has long-died.
And he does nothing about it as if his hands and feet are tied.
