Miss Independent Cooking101: Binignit

in #binignit6 years ago

Good Friday commemorates Jesus' Passion crucifixion and death and on Good Friday Filipinos celebrates Good Friday by cooking Binignit. Now, this is my first time to cook Binignit and I honestly did really well in cooking Binignit, No Bias pero masarap talaga yung niluto ko. HAHAHA and for me Good Friday will never be complete without Binignit, so as a first-timer, I really grabbed the opportunity to go to the market and buy some ingredients for Binignit. See Below list of ingredients for my Binignit ala-Miss Independent Version:

Ingredients:

-1 grated coconut
45.jpg
-6-10pcs of Gabi (Taro) peeled and cut into cubes
41.jpg
-6-10pcs of Kamote( sweet potatoes) peeled and cut into cubes
40.jpg
-cooked Sago
47.jpg
-Landang(tapioca)
48.jpg
-4-5 pcs. of Green Bananas peeled and sliced
43.jpg

P.S. you can also add, Langka, Ube and beans...the reason why I did not add Jackfruit, Ube and beans because when I went to market Ubos na (Sold out).

PROCEDURES/ INSTRUCTIONS:
-put the grated coconut to a bowl and for every grated coconut, add one cup of water and start squeezing to extract the milk until the liquid is nice and thick. Once you've had enough milk, strain the coconut milk.
-Put the coconut milk to boil in slow heat
49.jpg
-while waiting for the coconut milk to slightly boil, peel and sliced the gabi, sweet potato and banana
46.jpg
-After slicing, Add the Gabi, sweet potatoes and Landang to boil

52.jpg
-Add 1 cup of brown sugar, bananas and sago for the last touch and stir it every 8-10minutes.

AND VOILA THE FINISH PRODUCT!

Tips on how to cook Binignit as a first timer:

  1. Cooked Binignit at 8pm, kasi nga 1st timer and takot ako na magluto baka mali yung ginawa ko and since I'm craving for Binignit, I eagerly went to public market around 7:30pm to buy the ingredients and kinapalan ko ang mukha ko sa pagtatanong sa mga vendors kung paano ba lutoin ang Binignit and thank God they helped me a lot! IN SHORT, HUWAG MAHIHIYANG MAGTANONG (parang kanta lang?) HAHAHA
  2. How will I know kung luto na siya? kuya vendor told me that, yung unang i-add sa coconut milk is yung gabi tsaka kamote kasi matitigas sila, malalaman mo kung luto na sila by eating a piece chunk kundi subokan mong islice yung kamote at gabi using the spoon. Kapag nahiwa eh di luto na siya.
  3. How about the sweetness of Binignit? it depends on you, mahilig ako sa matamis, kaya 1 cup of sugar yung ginamit ko. pwede mo talaga siyang tikman para malaman mo kung matamis ba o hindi HAHAHAH
  4. Cook Passionately.

And Yes, Those are my tips on how to cook Binignit on a Good Friday Night! Don't Forget to share your Binignit
