Week 1

We all love photos. We all love taking photos. We all love watching photos. It is hard to believe that the first photo was taken in 1826, and now, nearly 200 years later, we are still taking photos.

This week, I want to share three of my most memorable photos from my very first international trip for safekeeping. My trip to the "Land Down Under," Australia, in 2002.

It was a long and tiring flight from Johannesburg to Perth. From Perth, I had to take a domestic flight to Melbourne on the east coast of Australia, where I went to visit some friends.
Although I was tired, the excitement was running high. When they told me that we would have a nice, relaxed afternoon at home, I immediately said, "No way, I want to see it all, and we start now".

We took a drive to St. Kilda Beach, which was about 20 minutes from their home and about 6–8 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city of Melbourne. It is a very popular beach for taking long strolls, not only along the beach but also along the pier. As the locals will tell you, "St. Kilda is as colorful today as it was yesterday and the day before it."

Photo 2: As we were sitting there, the clouds started to build, leaving the sky with one of the most amazing cloud formations I have ever seen.

Although there were plenty of activities happening along the way, the beach, the still water, and the sky were what captured our attention. We just sat there and took in the beauty of the day. It was as if Melbourne was welcoming me.

Photo 3: The calmness of the ocean, the sky, and those sitting watching it will be remembered by me for years to come.

Today, in my first week of taking part in this contest, I have shared three of my favorite photos, which are close to my heart. I'll lock them in my Steemit photo album for years to come.

These three photos were the first I took with my Canon camera, not only during my first visit to Australia but also during my first international trip, which makes them extra special.

What can I say about this contest?

Memories are wonderful. They are there to be stored, and they are there to be retrieved when you want to experience them again. Best of all, you always carry them with you. Sometimes they make us cry, and sometimes they make us laugh.
The same with photos. They are there to be stored, retrieved, and looked at, but not if you’ve misplaced them. Oh yes, they can also make us cry and laugh.

This is what makes this contest special. We can build a photo album for the future. There is absolutely no improvement or suggestion I would like to make.

For now, all I want to do is build my photo album.
