These photos were taken by me with my smartphone on one of the most beautiful beaches in northeastern Brazil.

Morro Branco beach is near the city of Beberibe on the east coast and 80 km from the state capital of Ceara, Fortaleza.

Here Morro Branco Beach where I live was hit by crude oil in early September but the actions taken to protect the environment have taken effect and nowadays the beach is clean without any trace.

Since late August and early September, several oil slicks have appeared on beaches in the northeast. According to the latest balance of the Brazilian Institute of Environment (IBAMA), released on Friday (25), the oil has reached 248 locations.

In total, IBAMA states that 90 municipalities were affected in all 9 Northeastern states: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraiba, Pernambuco, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe.

Aqui a Praia de Morro Branco onde eu moro foi atingida pelo petróleo cru no início de Setembro mas as ações executadas para proteger o meio ambiente surtiram efeito e atualmente a praia encontra-se limpa sem quaisquer vestígios.

Desde o fim de agosto e início de setembro, diversas manchas de óleo têm aparecido em praias do Nordeste. Segundo o mais recente balanço do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente (Ibama), divulgado nesta sexta-feira (25), o óleo já atingiu 248 localidades.

No total, o Ibama afirma que 90 municípios foram afetados em todos os 9 estados do Nordeste: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte e Sergipe.

Eu gosto de caminhar na areia junto ao mar e deu para certificar a limpeza da praia.
