Georg Wilhelm Saxer (? - 1740) was a German Baroque composer and organist. Not much of him is known. He was a pupil of Georg Böhm. In 1734 he was succesor of Böhm of the Sankt Johanniskirche in Lüneburg. Before 1734 he was organist of the Lambertikirche in Lüneburg. From 1737 until his death in 1740 Saxer was organist at the St. Jakobikirche in Lübeck.
The Leipziger manuscript with signature Becker II.2.51 preserves three preludes and fugues by his hands, and two more anonymous preludes that are probably by his hand as well. The are very nice pieces in the style of the North German organ school. The first of these works is the prelude and fugue in e minor. The prelude is written in a brilliant stylus fantasticus. The fugue has a simple theme of two bars. It moves largely in stately quarter notes giving it a powerful drive. The piece ends with another flourish in the stylus fantasticus.

The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
