NIGERIA'S GENERAL ELECTIONS HAS BEEN POSTPONED
Presidential and National Assembly elections which was initially sheduled today being 16th of Febuary, 2019 down to 23rd Febuary 2019 which is just one week from now.
The Electoral body was forced into an serious meeting last night around at the Agency's Headquaters in Abuja to decide the fate of the Saturdays elections after alarms were raised by some governors that sensitive electoral materials haven't reaches their states yet despite few hours to elections, especiall in states like Niger and Ekiti state.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu which is the INEC Chairman noted that it is on this ground of logistics challenges, lack of equal distribution of sensitive materials across the federation and improper operation operational planning that the electoral body deemed it necessary to postponed the election to next week which gives them a week grace to complete their preparations for the election.
Personally i don't really have any problems with the decision to postpone the elections as long as the decision was taken with the national interest at heart. This only goes to show how much we still need to work on as a country in other to keep the citizens happy because a lot of people will not find the funny. Some have travelled far for this elections and the election is putting a lot of things on hold.
We need the election to come and go so that people can move on doing their normal business without the disorganization created by election campaigns. The election need to come and go so that the country itself can move on.
This decision also affected the FCT Area Council elections, the Gubernatorial and the State house of Assembly which was initially sheduled 6th March, 2019 but now resheduled to 9th March 2019.
