Seen in Disney, Netflix, Pokémon, Firefox, here is a live one!

For a loooong time we stood and stared at each other!

It was our first time to see Fennec Foxes and what a delight. They are nocturnal (night time) animals and the smallest of the fox species "Vulpes zerda".

"The coat is often a cream colour and fluffy, which deflects heat during the day and keeps the fox warm at night.[3] The fennec's characteristic ears are the largest among all foxes relative to body size,[3] and serve to dissipate heat, as they have many blood vessels close to the skin.[8] The ears of a fennec are sensitive enough to hear prey that may be underground;[5] the soles of its feet are protected from the hot desert sand by thick fur.[3]"

He decided I am cool and started to relax in broad daylight.
His big ears are air conditioners and they have intense hearing.
They can hear an insect underground, dig it up and eat it!

His wife also made her appearance and had a look at me!
They mate for life with one partner!

She also decided that I am cool and relaxed!
They have fur under their feet!
To protect them against burning desert sand!

After a while she moved to this rock and I climbed a bit higher!

The staring game commenced again!

What a history that these little beautiful creatures have!

How they got here to the southern tip of the African continent I do not know, as they are from the Sahara desert in the far north of Africa. We have many poachers that sell live animals next to the roads and maybe that is their origin.
What I do know is that they are lovely little critters and that they don't deserve to be in a cage, no matter how big it is.
At times here in the town, I feel the same way as they do and at every opportunity I escape into nature.
They have no escape! Selah

But in saying this, they are being looked after very well by good people, they have a house and food, which is more than I can say for many poor people here in our developing country!

I've never seen or heard of this species of fox before. It's very different from the usual bright coated orange fox that I've always seen. I can't think of the species name though lol. Their ears are pretty big and that's amazing that they can hear insects moving underground.

Thank you and Mozilla Firefox used his name as a project starter, Also seen in Disney's Zootopia.
Intricate little critters.
Blessings!

They are so cool! I like their disproportionately large ears)))

Thank you and their ears regulate their body temperatures in the hot desert my friend.
Blessings!

A rare and beautiful creature indeed.
They seem to be a combination of cats and dogs :)

No I have never seen one thanks for these great shots they are quite cute looking arent they and they seem to have been very comfortable with you getting shots of them

Oh? I thought you were hooked on Disney's Zootopia series for children JJ. Hahaha
Their image is used by several other producers as well.
To present a calm, non threatening profile to an animal puts them at ease.
Blessings!
