THE REST OF THE RHUBARB

in #homesteading5 years ago

This will be tasty.

This one comes in handy. First off, perennial, so plant once and enjoy for years to come. While the leaves may be poisonous, the stems are not, but instead are tasty and tart. My mom always made an excellent rhubarb crisp, and we like adding them to oatmeal.

I think we got about four or five harvests from our plants this year, and this is the last batch. It's already rinsed and chopped, so we'll just freeze it and grab some whenever our breakfast menu call for some. Do you like rhubarb? If so, what's your favorite way to enjoy eating it?

Never been a fan...maybe I have never had it properly prepared before!

Yum! My Mom made a rhubarb sauce that she served on bread and butter. It was always a treat. Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is also excellent. Enjoy that rhubarb!

I LOVE rhubarb and miss it here in Thailand. My mother used to stew it with cinnamon sticks and honey, then added agar and a HUGE glass of real port wine, and then put it into a fancy jelly mold. Superb with fresh raspberries and thick natural cream.
