POUNDS OF APPLES FOR $1 USD!!!

in #food6 years ago

Oh yes! I'll load up!

We stopped at a grocery store in Missouri on our drive back from St. Louis and were able to pick up two and three pound bags of apples for $1 USD each!

The bags of Honeycrisps had about eight apples in the two pound bags and the bags of Fujis had about thirteen apples in the three pound bags. For $1 each, that's a lot of apples.

We are currently dehydrating them to make some apple chips to enjoy this winter. We've got a long way to go, but they are so delicious and we've got a great start!

I would be fermenting so of those babies.

You can't beat a good deal like that!!

I grew up on sun dried apples! We would go harvest uglies or just off trees that people didnt want to deal with the fruit drop(Why???? ) and so we would bring home paper bags full of them!!! They are great sun dried!

Peace

First Fruits is a huge Apple company is Washington State. I work for the company that serves them power and I recently got a 30 pound box of Fuji Apples for $15. I can get this anytime of the year. Well I do live on the Apple state. Lol
Nice Score!!! I’m a big fan of juicing and making Apple juice concentrate is an easy way to utilize them apples. Then freeze the Apple concentrate for later and mix with water to desired taste. I’ve been thinking about getting another box lately, now that I have seen this post, I gotta get some more apples...oh ya and a dehydrator too. Lol

Yeah, I too would take advantage of that deal regularly!!

You can sun dry them....thats what we did growing up.

Just cut them real thin and put them on a cookie sheet. You may have to flip them once the top is a little dry so the bottoms dont stick to the tray.

Peace

@Mama-pepper was really impressed with the taste of the dehydrated ones. Give it a try!

Oh ya, they are tasty!!! Instead of buying and eating candy just dehydrate some fruit. Apricots are delicious dehydrated too. My mom used to do them all the time growing up.

What’s your method to turn fresh apples into chips? Great idea bty, to preserve for the months ahead

Right now I'm using an electric dehydrator. Gonna build a solar one next year hopefully.

Been looking at these dehydrater machines. Great idea, but they’ so big!

What a great deal for all these beautiful apples.
What a great way to enjoy the apples throughout the winter and so yummy.
Love the idea, since I love anything to do with apples.

Never in my life in the 44 years that I have eaten dehydrated apple. But I assume it must be very good.
Greetings my friend time without visiting your blog

They are incredibly tasty!

I hope someday to be able to test them.
Before the arrival of communism here, many products arrived in Venezuela. from the USA but these communist criminals forbid to bring things from the USA. but what these communist rulers do is contradictory, since they take the planes from Venezuela and go to the United States to do their shopping

good deal, what about some pies?

Thinking about that too! Good idea!

Love Apples but they are expensive where we live. Thanks for showing us cheap apples @papa-pepper

Ok, that's one hell of a deal.

Meanwhile, here in Ontario, Canada, I'm dealing with this shit. What the hell is "Extra Fancy Grade"?! Lmao
