Use a telescope & and a magnifying glass.

How do you ever clearly decide where passion lies?

There must be passion motivating your creation. If you don’t really care whether or not something happens, it probably won’t. Identifying your passion for a subject is like seeing it with a telescope. You can spot it, but you don’t see the details.

###What’s the difference between passion and yearning for something that you believe will never happen?

I think the only difference is that when you’re in your passion, you are joyfully pursuing every opportunity. If I say I want a surplus of $100,000 in my bank account, and I don’t really believe in my ability to pull that amount in and I don’t make any changes that will begin to make it happen, I’m probably stuck in a limiting belief that will keep me frozen in non-action. My bank account will stay just as it has always been.

You can see where we're heading. This is a non-passionate earning that won’t really get off the ground. That $100.000 probably won't show up.

So, how do I determine where my passion lies? I ask myself these kinds of questions: “What am I willing to live up to?” If I do not pursue this will I be unhappy? A little unhappy? Very unhappy? Will I feel unfulfilled?

A short time ago, I was feeling quite passionless and my life felt like I had no real direction. I was doing okay, but I had no "umph".

I was talking with one of my friends, describing my rudderless days. The question was raised something like “What is it that you could not live without?”

That was quite easy to answer. I could not live with out my daily journal writing. For some very good reasons: it keeps me sane, it’s my connection to the Universe, it creates my day by setting a positive tone so that whatever contrast pops up for me, I’m better prepared to handle it. I can’t think of another thing in my life that I can’t live without.

Okay – Here was a good clue! This showed me that my passion was with journal writing. That’s the big picture. The view from the telescope.

Next question:
“What can I do with that knowledge?” What does it look like under the microscopic view?

Now I had to get down to the usage of this passion for journal writing as an outward expression. I began a series of next steps that morphed into creating this website. Writing the content for this site is actually an extension of my journal writing.
Every day I open my email and get a number of inspiring ideas from a few different sources. I use this inspiration for my daily journal writing. Now I also use it in a way that might turn up as a page here. So growing this website is the direct expression of my passion. It feels empowering and fulfilling to be doing this.

Also, I found a few other ways of extending journal writing by focusing the microscope in different directions. The expression of passion always feels like life flowing through me. It excites me and motivates me to action. Sometimes I just can't stop myself from going with the flow of it.
