what control our balance?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

We feel dizzy after we spin around beacause the liquid in our ears is still swirling about when we stop, and our brain cant tell where were going, if we watch a dancer spin around, we will notice that their heads does not move continuously.

The inner ear is the body main organ of balance, but our brain also receive messages from nerve-ending s in our neck, beck, leg and our feet muscles. The brain sifts all the information and sends messges to the muscles to allows us to perform incredible feats of balance such as ice-skating and gymnastics.

Near the cochlea are fluid filled tubes thses are the semicircular canals. As we move our heads , the fluids inside each canals swishes to and fro. When our body moves, the fluids causes hair in a jelly-like  mass to bend. Thses are connected to our vestibular nerve ,which alerts our brain to re-balance our body…

Thank you for the interesting post. It is interesting that how a small organ could do so much for you in a big body. Too bad i have been really bad in balancing and as a result i am really bad dancing as well. But i am hoping i can be improved someday..

When my sinuses hurt or I get really bad headaches I get awfully dizzy.

Haha. I also feel that way:)

Great article. i would like to add here that the semicircular canals are at an angle of 90 degree to each other representing the x,y and z axis. This is similar to the gyroscope which is present in our smart phones which records the dynamic position of the phone.

nice post ;) it's awesome ^^)
