Rules for Success In Life [Part 4]
Rule #7
Smart Work
What is your definition of hard work?
Generally, it is defined as using lots of time and energy to do work. Someone who works twelve hours a day could be seen as a hard-working person.
Yet, simply working hard is not a guarantee for success. One must also be smart about it, so as to maximize every hour spent working. Success hardly ever comes to lazy people. You must put in extraordinary effort in your profession to be outstanding. Everyone in your field is hoping to attain greatness personally.
They want what you want, which is to stand out as the best. You must, in turn, be hardworking to outshine them. Hard work here is not the twelve-hour labor kind of hard work, but the strategic type. You must define hard work to mean smart work for you to get the most out of it. Constantly find new ways, new strategies and methods to carry out your work effectively. You do not need to consume all your energy to be successful.
Finally, when you are truly content, then you can say you are successful. Work smarter.
Rule #8
Ask Yourself
Honest Questions Regularly Honest questions are what compel you to concentrate on what is truly of utmost importance. These questions determine what you focus on, and your focus decides the outcome.
It is one thing to ask questions but a different thing to really take heed to your answers. The answers will set you on the path to success and your goals will gradually fall into place.
Some of the honest questions include:
What does success mean to you?
How can I measure success in my profession?
What have I accomplished so far?
Are my goals written down?
Am i working towards achieving them?
How have I improved myself recently?
What is my aspiration?
