All most of us really want in life is that “golden” opportunity that takes us all the way to our dreams. But we all know that such opportunities are rare, if they even exist at all.

While some of us get what may appear to be some really lucky breaks, others of us don’t always fare so well. Does luck have something to do with it? Maybe, but there’s always more to do with it than just sheer luck. There is work involved. A lot of what seems like overnight success is nothing close to what it seems at all.

When a really good opportunity comes to someone, it’s usually after a lot of hard work and ups & downs. Opportunities come to those who plant the seeds and cultivate them. Some come quickly and some take a long time. But most opportunities come after a deliberate thought, intent or choice to walk down a particular path. You see, we encounter opportunities every single day.

But an opportunity is nothing more than a chance. If you take a chance, you might get something out of it or you can lose something because of it. As a result, most of us aren’t looking to take as many random chances as possible. We choose the risks we are willing to take based on what we want to gain, and how much we believe that the chance will pay out.

A chance is an opportunity, and it must be grabbed and worked for it to work. That’s why you can create your own opportunities. You can create opportunities by working towards them. Make yourself ready for them when they finally appear.

Learn to recognize them. Plant the seeds that will yield them. Make the time to prepare the way. Opportunities are yours for the making.
