Fighting To Save An Arctic Refuge

Meet The Indigenous People Fighting To Save An Arctic Refuge.

Alaska Natives from the Gwich'in Nation have been fighting oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for decades.

ANWR is a critical habitat for polar bears, as well as the calving grounds of the porcupine caribou herd, which the Gwich'in people depend upon for survival. AJ+ goes above the Arctic Circle to a village where the Gwich'in way of life is at stake as Congress prepares to approve drilling for oil in the refuge. Video of AJ+ on Youtube
