Attorney-Client Privilege: FBI proves it cannot be trusted in less then 4 days.

in #news7 years ago

On Monday, the FBI raided the home, office, hotel room, and safety deposit boxes of President Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen.  Cohen’s attorney Stephen Ryan said in a statement Monday:

“Today the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed a series of search warrants and seized the privileged communications between my client, Michael Cohen, and his clients."
“I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller.”

Within 4 days, "people familiar with the matter. " (presumably from the FBI) had leaked to the media that Michael Cohen had

"negotiated a deal in late 2017 to pay $1.6 million to a former Playboy model who said she was impregnated by. . ."

No it was not by Trump (how they must have wished) but by one of Michael Cohen's other clients.

The FBI is totally out of control.

What right does the FBI have to destroy somebody's life and cause immense upset to their family by leaking information they discovered when they raided his attorney's office and seized materials subject to Attorney-Client Privilege.

How would you feel?

Nobody can be proud of this behavior by the FBI and the Justice Department.
