What Is Harmony?

Harmony is a quick, flying and reliable blockchain that comes with lots of innovations such as state shading and also allows peer to peer transaction. Harmony tries to provide solutions to some of the problem encountered early in blockchain and after going through their whitepaper, the blockchain has provided solutions in the area of secure sharding, scalable network transaction, adaptive thresholded PoS, efficient and fast consensus to just mention few of the solutions provided.

Harmony Roadmap

Just like you know that every project always have a roadmap, that is, the path followed to the achievable objectives, harmony case is not an exception because it also has a roadmap which started back in 2018 when the team started their seed funding and also published their whitepaper, public benchmark 100k TPS on 40k nodes, Asia event and community development and open source code all taking effect in 2018 to show how efficient the team are and 2019 has witnesses lots of development with the lunching of their testnet 2.0 and the second version of their whitepaper. They also launched mainnet which support wallet and full explorer to also mention few of the team achievement.

Sharding

Harmony comes in two chain which is the beacon chain and multiple shard chains; what the beacon chain does is to register identity which occur randomly while the work of the multiple chain is to save anything related to blockchain state and all forms of transaction at the same time. Harmony sharding focuses more on industrial and academic development. The beacon chain helps stakers to deposit their token first before they can become a validators

Blockchain State Sharding

Harmony is different from other state shading that make use of the Unspent Transaction Output(UTXO) data model, it make use of the account-based data mode which encompasses all the account state and all the tokens that exist on the blockchain are distributed within the shard. The account-based data also comes in two various form which is the user account and the smart contract account. What the user account does is that it allows the users to have multiple balance at various shard while the smart contract account only restrict the user to the specific shard.
