Dead Works

Hello brothers and sisters of the steemchurch and welcome to today's topic titled "Dead Works". You must have always heard of people or other Christian brothers and sisters talking about it. Whether you understood what it meant or not, today's topic will further strengthen your knowledge on it.
What Are Dead Works

Source
Dead works refers to man's entire attempt by his own effort or by observing the law to attain righteousness or get God's acceptance. Lets quickly look through Romans 10 vs 3 which says;
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Practical Examples Of Dead Works
The practical example of dead works include;
- A believer working to gain God's acceptance outside faith after being saved already by faith as seen in Galtians 1 vs 3;
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
A believer who is saved but is not producing fruits (good works). We are saved by grace through faith to produce good works i.e works inspired by love).
Serving in Church or going to church to be recognized by men or gain men's approval. See Ephesians 6vs 5-6 which says;
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
Serving God because of what you can get from Him
Works of the Flesh as seen in Galatians 5 vs 17-21.
How Does One Repent From Dead Works
To repent from dead works, the believer must understand and realize that salvation was made available by grace through faith not of works and can only be sustained by grace through faith.
The believer must also know that grace is an empowerment hence one is saved to produce good works (a product of faith which works by love). See 1st Peter chapter 2 vs 9.
Renewing the Mind by God's word. See Romans 12 vs 2.
Call To Action
- Aside the examples mentioned above, give other real life cases where people show dead works.
That's all I will take on dead works. Endeavor to answer the question in the comment section as we want to be blessed by you, you and you.
OWOBLOW-STEEMIT
i think one example is when students feel all it takes for them to pass their examinations is reading alone
Faith without work is dead, we should constantly renew our minds with God's word by studying the bible daily and practicing what we learn.
This message is really deep @owoblow-steemit. Thanks for such a powerful message
Really good points @owoblow-steemit,
Having faith without putting it with good works, is also dead work. Many Christians today are guilty of dead works.
My able preacher. Always speaking the heart of the father. Its dead work when it is not done in faith
Thanks Apostle @owoblow-steemit for enlivening my faith again,its a great booster for me. In any case, we must strive to make efforts, doing corporal and spiritual works of mercy. As seen by the elders and joyful Saints, who have lived their lives here on earth and have obtained good reports.
I will continue to watch out!!!
God's grace is always sufficient and in abundant supply in our lives. Let's hearken unto him, and bring to end in our lives all dead works.*
Good work Apostle, without faith it is impossible to please God, we are not saved by works, but faith without work is dead, we must be diligent with what we have so that in all God he is glorified.
