Massive 3 Mile Wide Asteroid Coming

Russian astronomers have been tracking the path of the asteroid called '3200 Phaethon' which NASA claims is a potentially hazardous asteroid. It will pass Earth at a distance of just 2 million miles, this may seem a huge distance in our terms but in respect to space measures it would be classified as a near miss. The asteroid has been estimated to be about 3 miles wide. To imagine how large this is, they believe that the asteroid which led to the extinction of the dinosaurs was just half this size.

Based on their calculations, the asteroid will be closest to the Earth on December 17.
