AM I ?
A) stupid
B) naive
C) Generous to a fault
D) Other
The picture is entirely to get you hooked in to the post. It's from the New Forest where horse roam wild. It's a photo composite using antique textured paper
I'll give you a clue. it's D.. Other and I'll tell you why. I am generous natured. I like to give. It makes me feel good. It doesn't come from a place of guilt. It's a genuinely nice thing. I like to share. Ideas, food, poetry. whatever I've got. To be honest, I am much better at giving than receiving anything, help, etc. I became a mentor after giving away my experience and advice for free, for the gift of giving. Perhaps altruism pays in the long run, but I also put a high value on karma, not for some divine gift but because ultimately, ONE LOVE ! (it's dimensional) = zero point, we are one, etc
But that's not even my point. so there's a bit of C but it's still D..
100% upvotes
I see people giving out 1% upvotes and it makes me think how thinly can you slice a cake until the pieces become meaningless, tasteless and downright unworthy of attention? now, if you're @officialfuzzy, giving out a 1% upvote to many people might be a fair and equitable strategy for equitable distribution of the steem love, but let's say your upvote is worth $1, which is a good upvote, upvoting at 1% seems like a person putting 1p in the charity box, just so people see them doing it. I prefer the person who slips a fiver in while nobody is looking ! that's real generosity and means so much more.
I'm not much of a slider.
It's such a faff. I was very pleased to get my slider. It was like a badge of probationary success. But to be honest I've hardly ever used it. Perhaps one day when my upvote is worth a few dollars, I'll give it out more with less weight. In the meantime, I like the fact that my 100% upvote shows total commitment to a post (or a comment even)!!!
I sometimes even write 100% upvoted with my vote. It's a democracy. Votes matter. ps my upvotes hasgrown muscles recently. you may have noticed it yourself. I've gone from a $0.15 to a $0.35 with the swing, which is great. I feel like I make a difference to people's posts. especially ones with a few voted and a few pennies :}
Upvote comments
I see most people never upvote comments. you should upvote more comments. Ok posts are great and a good post is worth curating but I think giving out upvotes (@100% of course) encourages people to actually read and comment.
I even upvote comments on other people's posts where I've commented.. Is he completely mad you ask ? No, I'm just left handed so things which most people find difficult, I tend to find easy and vice versa.
So next time you consider sliding down to 5% remember what I said, you tight thing. comments welcome. My opinion can sometimes be overblown and is usually quite subjective. If you don't yet have a slider, then there's nothing for you to worry about yet but you may want to consider your future before it happens.
I look forward to my votes being worth enough that it matters lol As a relatively small new guy on here, I think it's safe to say thank you on behalf of anyone whose been a beneficiary of one of your 100% votes! I'm loving how this platform works so far. It's a breath of fresh air compared to Facebook. :) Found this post with the "tips"tag
all votes matter no matter how small. the more you engage, the more your vote gains power. my $0.33 newly powered up vote feels epic. I remember breaking through the $0.01 barrier and then getting 500SP delegated for a month which doubled my $0.07 to 0.14.. small steps and more interestingly something which I've become really interested in. as a community, as an idea and actually for the first time ever, made real, genuine online friends with common interests. That's the power of the blockchain in action. this is not facebook ! I'm following you :)
Well, I upvoted your comment, hope it helps! lol I'm superexcited about Steemit, my best friend finally decided to join. He's all thinking the crypto is a scam etc... I'm like so what? Even if it is, (I don;t think it is lol) it's a better social network experience with positive content, no trolls and chronological feeds! lol
thanks Adam. So many people think crypto is a scam because they don't understand what blockchain is.. he will come round to it after a few weeks / months on steemit. it's a great place to learn about the landscape. and some serious developers and founders of crypto projects like bitshares hang out on steemit. !! there's also a lot of very interesting people with many different ideas about what blockchain is, what it's for and how it will change things :)
I think so too, he told me he already bought some Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin lol
not bad for week 1 next thing he'll be telling you how to hold on to your verge :)
I just gave you a 100% upvote BECAUSE SHARING IS CARING!
And I don't think you are any of the above- just a very smart guy who understand the value of giving in a community like this.
that's very kind @hotsauceislethal (great name btw) and you are equally astute. You just got a new follower, who always gives 100% upvotes ! :) ROCKnRoll CryptoNauts. I do think 100% upvote is worth giving out. It's like salamanders legs, it just keeps growing back after a while.
I whole heartedly agree, not only about the fact that you, dear @outerground, are a truely excellent steemian but also with the fact that a kind spirit and generosity will take us much further than any concise investment decision! It's also what makes this platform great!
But I just vote too damn much to keep use 100% all the time...
Also giving 10 cents on every comment (and yes, I upvote almost all reasonable replies) feels weird... I do want to make distinctions between what I love, like or just sympathise with?!
ONE LOVE
Thanks @fraenk. I'm glad you agree as you are one of the steemians I can count on for good solid, reputable opinions. I mean who else ever fact checked my posts ! ;) Perhaps I only vote just enough to use my 100% vote. I mean it does go down pretty quick but I still use it anyway. I think giving 10 cents to everyone is very fair, if you like what they say :) I just hope Steemit keeps it's soul as it grows !
That's what's really exciting me about this platform after all!
What I can imagine, but I don't know if this is the way it works: when you have a lot to give, say 100$ per vote, it might be cool to split this vote so 5 people get 20$, and more people get rewarded. This only makes sense if a 20% vote also means your voting power doesn't go down as fast as with a 100% vote... I'm still studying Steemit, so not sure if this is indeed the case :D Enjoy your 0,35$ upvotes, I feel like once you can get in the 0,10$ your votes start to matter a bit :D
i think you're tight. that probably is (and is for whales) the case. when your vote is worth a lot of money, you will tend to give it out in smaller amounts. My upvote is only worth cents so I feel that giving it all at 100% makes sense. my upvote has powered up recently due to the price increase. It might not stay like that forever. if you keep working hard, posting good content and engaging with the community your upvote will go up. I'm following due to a shared interest in photos from train windows !
