there is a restaurant in Santa Teresa that is in Playa Carmen called the Birreria.

It's absolutely the most glorious place to enjoy a sunset drink or meal. It faces the West and a situated high on the mountain side. They serve some lovely appetizers, and have a wide selection of Costa Rican micro-brews which are delicious. They also have many different specialty cocktails and wine options.

The evening that we dined at the Birreria there was beautiful long period swell rolling in. We could kick ourselves for deciding to take the evening off from surfing because the waves were actually perfect. We ordered our cab from Santa Teresa to the North where the waves were all closing out and no fun for surfing. Then arrive in Playa Carmen to find the waves are peaking and peeling off to the left and right. But it was a wonderful vantage point to watch Surfers doing their thing getting long rides.

The Birreria is run by Argentinians, and has a super laid-back and chill vibe. The drinks and food are served promptly butyou can count on a crowd at Sunset so make sure you arrive early. Also be sure that the cab that you book or the vehicle that you're driving has four wheel drive, because the ascent up the hill to the restaurant is treacherously steep and unpaved.

We ordered a bottle of wine and nachos. Our table was right on the edge of the cliff. When the sun set and the cloak of night covered us. The porch dining area was illuminated by lovely hanging lights and we we able to enjoy the night, eachother, food, drinks and the stars.

Definitely recommend visiting this lovely spot.
