Who Am I?

in #introduceyourself9 years ago

me

So have been on steemit for a month and some days now and yet to produce a introduce yourself post, reason for this, not that am waiting for huge follower or to acquire a certain reputation before posting but just the simple fact am kind of an Introvert don’t really care much about other people point of view concerning what I think or what they think about me. Example when involve in an argument I rather say my peace and let you believe whatever you want cause at the end of the day it all comes back to you, whether you believe me or not.

So who am I?

My name is Eghele but you might probably find it hard to pronounce so let’s just call me Gift cause that’s the actual meaning and the name is gotten from Okpe, it’s a tribe which populate the Sapele town in Delta State, Nigeria. Am from a small town in Delta state called Sapele, which was once known as the timber factory of west Africa with the presence of AT&P known as African Timber and Plywood factory although it has long since closed down reason I don’t quite know but I would like to bring back the once glorious date of this my small town probably just a child’s dream, back then I heard one could eat three square meal a day due to the presence of that company but now not so much as companies are not much located in this my small town. Although I believe that there will be a day when all that have been lost will come back.

My education level so far.

I studied mineral resource engineering for my ND and presently reading petroleum engineering, what made me left Geology or Mining and went into petroleum engineering one would ask.

  1. The money: Petroleum is one of the most productive resource found in this our current generation/era and my country is a case study were almost all generated revenue is from the petroleum sector so if I may ask what better way to secure ones future than in this so called oil sector which is flourishing with lot of money, black gold as some persons call it and its vast product, ranging from petrol to kerosene etc. and the gaseous aspect of it called natural gas that comes with it although not always in much quantity. About 80% of houses found in my country depend on cooking gas which is a product of natural gas, due to it been cheap and its fastness when it comes to food preparation.

  2. It’s one of the resource currently found in my state, Delta state located on the Southern part of Nigeria is flourishing with this resource and one may ask with this resource presently in my state while is my state not among the developing part of Nigeria? Well I don’t know much about politics so I won’t go into that.

  3. Ever since my ND level I was quite fascinated with the petroleum terms and their work life. Back then, even though I actually admire them we used to argue a lot about who is the head of the department cause it was named Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences. Yes I know geosciences comes last after petroleum engineering but let’s go into this sector for a little bit, before a well is drilled we first need to do exploration or prospecting in geology term, this as to do with the act of looking for oil promising zone and a geologist is usually required in this field. Reason who else knows the formation characteristic than a geologist so I rest my case with that. But even with this I still admired the petroleum sector especially the drilling aspect, how a rig is mounted on an oil promising zone after a cellar pit has been dug, the processes involve in drilling (cutting of the formation and circulating of drilling fluid so as to clean the well while drilling and lubricating the drilling bit etc.) so I don’t want to bore you with my jargons let’s move on.

Ever since my secondary school, have always be known as that computer guru haha seriously I don’t take myself as one, rather I just go online read what picks my interest and apply it to my daily life, somehow along the way I was able to help some persons with this knowledge. Even my time in the higher institution my name was changed to tecno hahaha seriously probably because my first android phone was a tecno product and I kind of made it popular in my school due to some of the configuration I did on it and I was quite vast with some computer knowledge although not talking about programming but just your normal how to stuff. This made me learn more cause for every challenge someone brought me I was able to research on it and added to my knowledge, I was actually during all this free until a friend of mine who is one of my best friends till date brought the idea about collecting money from the services I rendered at first I said who was going to pay? But then I made my little change from it lol was not much cause in a school environment people had little or nothing to go by each day. Although I was kind of satisfied with the little, because I enjoyed every aspect of it.

With the above you might be wondering why I didn’t further my knowledge on computer by reading computer engineering or computer science. The answer is

I just do it for fun and I don’t want to make it a total part of me, reason sometimes it becomes troublesome when people starts disturbing you over and over again. I really love it when you actually try to solve a problem yourself before consulting me, that way when am actually solving it, I can relate the problem with you and bring about a little conversation along the way but so far nothing. So I just keep to myself my thoughts under this area.

How I got to know about steemit?

Some persons might be wondering about this, actually a friend of mine, secondary school friend to be precise chat me up one day and introduced it to me, at first I was quite reluctant cause I have gone through many paying sites and nothing offered this much possibility so in short, Steemit sounded too good to be true, so I registered and forgot about it, reason for this was that it required some days to verify my account and I never received a message until this same friend reached me about Steemit once more and now I was a really intrigued about it, so I wanted to create a new account and this time pay more attention to it, but something just asked me to check my mail once more about the confirmation which I did and behold the confirmation mail has been sent to me ever since. So I just followed the link and my password was generated. You might be wondering who this friend is? You probably heard of him or not but his username is @destinysaid really he has been a friend from the very first day I logged in and the group he created alongside many other users named @africaunchained is really doing wonders and am proud to be a member of that group with time I was introduced to @airhawk-project if you ever feel lonely while on steemit this is a group to check up on via telegram with over 1k users and every day is a fun day there, over time I started joining other groups like #bluewaves via discord and I must say @ogochukwu is really doing an amazing stuff over there with his tireless contribution to ensure that minnows find a foot here on this great platform. So to cut the story short a lot of persons have been helping me right from the very first day I logged into steemit and to mention some and live many out would just not be fair so I say, I am really grateful to all those who have been a great help to me ever since I joined this platform and I wouldn’t be here today if not for you guys.

Thanks a lot and May God bless you all.

Here a few tips for starters snce you probably won't get any advice from those who comment under here, here's what I gathered thus far.
It's tough to make money at first so if that's your main cause to be on here grind that into your head straight away, that doesn't mean you shouldn't post content, you should, but enganging with others in the comment sections to grow your following is your best bet. Which categories?

Probably the introduce yourself one and the photography section but you can choose things that you have knowledge about too and then go from there just know that there is a lot of crap on here so plowing through that just to connect with others can be tough. Cheers.

Nice introduction and its very interesting... Steemit is a great platform. It takes time the most and some other things and it as well helps a lot in several ways. You are welcome

thanks for taking your time to write this comment much appreciated

Hello Eghele,
Great intro,
Very interesting thought about money comparing to oil, and explaining about the importance of it.
Nice to hear your positive results after being 1 month on Steem!
I have been 3 months here already, but times flies fast, and results just keep piling.

Best of luck dude!

thanks and much appreciated my advice to you, would be get a niche something you excell on, something you are not afriad to talk about publicly and when called upon would be able to defend it, also become interactive, try to relate with others on this great platform and also look for other community that relates with steemit, there are so many out there and would be grateful if you join any of them

It's a subscription based daily upvote bot that draws its power from a delegation pool. I also recently made this post explaining my experience with it in more depth while earning over $1 per day in upvotes.
