Odyssey Extraction PVE League of Leagends Review

Hi guys and welcome to another beautiful day, well the week just started and we still have a long way to go before the weekend, but before that why not try the new map currently available on league of legends and yes it’s not a player vs player map but rather a player vs enemy/NPC.

If you played League of Legends before now, you probably customized to the various maps available but then not a PVE map, well am kind of new to this game but from my time playing this game, it’s nothing more than superb, with call of duty black ops 4 currently available on BETA stage it won’t be a surprise if most games starts bringing in new update but from what I can say about this map, is that if you yet to play LOL, this map should interest you to try out.

Odyssey Extraction

You ever been to an alien planet were you had to fight your way through various traps, hazardous environment, different species and so much more?

That’s what odyssey brings to you and many more, the map is based on a planet far away from home and from the introduction shown, it seems ziggs got stocked in it and a beacon was sent out, which brought other allies to save him, but then we have to fight our way through defeating the boss, non-other than Kayn himself.

If you played LOL, you probably know the character Kayn but if not, well let’s just say he is one guy you don’t want to have as an enemy with his ability of moving through walls and just when you think you safe and about to get that call back, you get taken out by that user using kayn, a bad way to go out if I do say so myself.
Well that’s the boss at the end of any difficulty map on Odyssey and he brought some friends alongside him, monsters you never seen before, having different abilities that pack a lot of damage behind them, truly you need skills to beat this game and a little bit of help, well you in luck, cause that help was provided and it’s what we call augment.

Augment

With same abilities available on the champions used for this map, more help was needed if we were going to survive the hard condition of this map. The help came in form of augments.

When properly customized, it gives you a higher hand and an ability booster to fight of those monsters. To start with, you are given a passive augment which cannot be edited on changed, but as you progress, more slot is open up and more augments, you can unlock more slot by completing various task given to you via your task menu and I must say unlocking of slot is more easy than beating the game xD.

Well the developers wanted to make the game beatable as much as possible I think. If not, unlocking of augment slot would have been a little complex than what was presented, but am glad they made it this easy as it ensures a victory battle. But as the difficulty level goes up, so the need to have better augments needed, the augment used in beating beginner map might not be enough to beat captain mode, yea each difficulty mode was given special name not your regular normal, hard, hardest mode ….

5 different slot was given in total not including your passive slot to edit your augments as you see fit, each champion comes with his/her unique augment and it would be wise to read each of their ability before you select/pick any augment, it all depends on how much you can use that champion ability, what works for Mr.A might not work for Mr.B, it’s always advisable to pick the augment you can stick to or play with.

Say Jinx, she has an augment that gives her the ability to fire her ult ability three times in a row after every 2 seconds delay and also one that leaves a trail of fire behind when she fires her ult, which erupts 5 seconds later, one of my favorite pick, this might not work with another user who don’t depend much on her ult ability, so it’s usually best to pick an augment that fits your game style.

Champions

Been using this term from the beginning of this post but yet to introduce the champion selected/pick for this specific map, if you played LOL before now, you probably know by now that more than 20 champions are available to pick from but this map not the case, 5 different champions were uniquely pick to complete this map, that’s you have the ability to play as one of five different selections, most times its usually easy to play as one champion and other time it’s ideal all 5 champions are picked as each brings in different and unique game fight to the arena.

The champions picked for this map are,

• Jinx
• Malphite
• Yasuo
• Ziggs
• Sona

Would have loved to do different summary of their unique gameplay as well as their ult ability, but that would probably some other time, rather am going to drop a brief explanation about each of the above mentioned champions.

Jinx

She uses a machine gun that fires at speed or can be easily swap to a grenade launcher that deals more damage but then cost more mana and also a little bit slower than the machine gun but then it’s worth it, if you played odyssey with Jinx and your augment was not properly customized you would end up noticing that you easily run out of mana due to the grenade launcher but with the selection of augments, you can easily set it to no mana cost when you use the grenade launcher as your primary weapon, a must select for me xD.

That been said, she also comes with 2 other abilities, she is able to throw fish like grenade down which traps hostile troops for few seconds, if properly customized with a good augment you could do a lot more damage when activated than the default damage allowed

Also, she fires a beam of light that fires in a straight direction, a long range attack if I do say so, with a good augment you could make it fire in 3 different direction and also make it pass through enemies continuously until it disappears, one of the advantage of using a good augment and last, her ult ability. MOBA games usually comes with a unique ability that ensures total victory or one to deliver the final blow. Jinx ult, she fires a rocket that goes in a straight pattern continuously until it reaches the map end, a good way to end the match and when customized using one of the provided augment you could make the rocket fire 3x faster and make them leave a trail of fire when they pass.

Well that’s a little more than I wanted to type.

Malphite

A tank/frontline that can receive a lot of damage and also give out a lot of damage as well, if you watched The Fantastic Four Movie, there is this character known as The Thing, from his shape and size a good name couldn’t be giving to him, well malphite kind of look like him, he has a stone like body and from his physical look you can tell he is one not to play against.

He uses the earth to his advantage by building up speed to ram hostile troops or cause quakes around him. Like jinx, with a good customized augment you could do a lot of damage than his default damage capability, a must pick if you ready to win any difficult map on odyssey and he is able to clear a good path when it comes to crowd control.

Yasuo

One of the op champion am yet to get fully customized with, he uses the wind to fed of hostile troops and also delivers that final blow when the need arise, without the receiving party able to do anything, a champion you rather not play with in a one vs one match.

Always a fun to play with a pro user, you could finish a difficult map in a go when used but the reverse is the case when a complete noob myself uses him xD.

Same as Jinx and Mal, with a good augment selected you could deliver a lot more blow than his default damage capability.

Ziggs

Not your usual champion height and physic but do not be fooled, this champ can deliver a good blow, and really annoying when used properly. He has a wide range of attack than most champions currently available and also packs a lot of damage behind every ability.

One of my best picked especially on Aram map, if used properly on odyssey map, he becomes a demi-god xD.

With a good augment, you can heal ally champion, although he is not a healer but then he can as well be if made to,

His attacks his more of a wide range base and odyssey the best place to use it, you could takeout 5 aliens in a go with his ult ability and also smaller fries alongside the huge ones, a must pick champion if you playing odyssey map with your crew.

Sona

Call her a doctor, a witch or a mage, she fits into every description, she can be your best ally or your worst hostile, she is able to heal ally troops to their default health and also boost their attack capability, she comes with 4 different abilities like every other champion.

I would have said she is a must use, but then with a life steal you could bring back your health much faster, and also her movement pace is a little bit slow unless she activates one of her many abilities, well if you probably going to play onslaught, I wouldn’t suggest picking her, unless you are terrifying good with her, else you just going to slow your other team mates and make them think they need to keep you alive when the reverse is the case.

With that been said, the champions picked for this map are all unique and each bring his own fighting style to the map, alone they might not be deadly but together they can deal a whole lot of damage.

Quest

Who don’t like a little quest? Especially when you have the chance to win unique skin or more diamond and also a faster way to complete the odyssey map. Like every other event I have observed or witness before now, there is usually certain quest given out within a limited time for users to complete, in return certain goodies are given to them when they successfully complete them. Although, the reward are in-game base nothing like monetary cash lol.

It is usually fun to complete, imagine getting something to play for after weeks of playing same thing over and over, that’s what quest usually brings to the table, they are usually fun to complete and the reward at the end of every completion is one of the best in-game feeling ever.

Odyssey Token

Who don’t like more money?

With the introduction of odyssey map, a new payment method is available as well, well you know the definition of money, anything that has value and can be exchange for a product or services. This token can be used for in-game purchases and limited to LOL.

Thinking loud, what of a system that allows you to port in-game money from one game to another, sweet. Although, we still years away from that.

That been said, Odyssey token can be used in purchasing different game equip, champion shards or wards and also rare equipment like orbs. Like the name said rare, really hard to claim them as you usually end up claiming new champion shard or skins.

The introduction of a new money system is really unique and it sure to bring more users to try out this map as they could easily purchase that skin they been trying to purchase for some time now. Just one of the many applications of this new payment method.

With that said, the new map is fun to play, but still due to human or self-differences, most times its usually hard to get a victory or complete a quest due to the fact that we all have our personal desire, say a quest that require the entire team choosing a particular champion is usually difficult to come to term, probably the user want to complete another quest, or the said champion, the user not yet customized to him. Bringing a difference in champion choice.

As well as augment selection, been discussing about how your selection affects the gameplay, this can sometimes lead to a lost, wrong selection or selection that does not tally with others will sometimes lead to a lost in match as well.

Better game-play would be gotten or seen if the users went into agreement before taken or picking any augment, this can only be achieved if you were all in a party and better chat was taken before selecting the map or going into battle.

The map as a whole is fun to play not just the introduction of augments, token and champions but also different and never before seen creatures you can play against when you login and yes this map is available on all servers.
