Second Language..😊

It's been 8 months since I decided on this specific thing and 4 months have passed since I faced it. Actually it's about my Tamil class. Unreasonably I really like Tamil-related things, so I love the language as well. That's why I thought to learn it at least for the OL exam. I had done my OLs back then and I was thinking of joining a class to learn Tamil to face the paper in the second shy. I had that idea but had no idea if to implement it or not.

There were only 3 months left for the 2021 ol which happened in May this year. Suddenly I thought to join a class and I found a teacher from our area. Actually, there are Tamil-speaking people here, so it was convenient for me cus it didn't happen for me to travel for hours to go to the class. It was like 5mins away from our house.

That teacher is also very young and she was so friendly. I had left less than 3 months till the exam date and for any reason, I didn't get it much more seriously.

Also, it was a plus point for me cus I can read, write, understand and speak in Tamil a little bit rather than a student who is gonna learn it for the first time.

my grandma is so fluent in Tamil and her nationality is also Tamil. i got used to the language when I was too little cus I watched all the Tamil teledramas and Tamil films together with her even if I don't understand anything.

When it comes to the class it was a whole new experience for me. I was the only student in the ol class. The teacher gave me to write essays even if I don't know any words than the usual simple words like how to call a book in Tamil. At first, I thought it would be like a piece of cake for me.. but definitely it wasn't. By the way, I worked together with the teacher, and day by day I learned little by little.

Anyways, in this case, the teacher was more dedicated than me. She had to deal with a student who doesn't do any assigned homework and doesn't attend classes on the date. But anyhow time passed and it was close to the exam. Even then all was well like nothing is there like an exam in weeks or days.

During those 3 months, I worked possibly. Most importantly I met a few kids who came to the teacher's house for classes. They can't understand Sinhala much and talked in Tamil with me. So it was a bit challenging to communicate with them. They were questioning and I used simple Sinhala words as possible to answer them. That's when I realized how hard it is to make someone understand what we talk about.

It was a like whole Tamil world for me cus everyone is talking in Tamil and I was the only one who is not fluent. Sometimes I can understand what they are talking about, though, I act like I don't understand anything. It helped me to get rid of lots of talk and questions.

Finally, we reached the exact date for the exam, and anyhow that one also ended. I'm happy cus anyhow I did that too. Now we are waiting for the results that are about to be released too sooner. ( ain't waitin for it, actually😁)
