DILIGENCE NOT "JUJUNESS"

In a religious country like ours, many believe that for you to be doing very well in your business at what ever level, you are using some black magic or getting help from one strong "juju" man.

Another group believes if the devil is not backing you, then God is carrying you on his back.

You will expect all church people to at least believe that any believer who is exceptional in his business belongs to the second group, but no, most believers believe that even among fellow believers all those who are doing very well in their business or working still patronize the dark ways.

What they forget is most of these so called "juju" assisted successful business people or artisans are disciplined and good at what they do. A nicely sewn gown will likely bring more customers, a honest business man who is direct in his dealings with his customers will earn their trust and they will advertise the business to their friends even without juju.

I was in a shop to have this lady recommend some cosmetics for me. From what I saw, she is good at what she is doing and people were thronging in and out of her office. While I commendeded her, the person I went with sighed and said "na juju she d use". While it's possible juju is helping her, it's also possible her diligence and expertise is paying off not juju.
