The Bot Is Online!
The bot is currently online and in early testing stages.
Issues
- Encoding Problems
- False Positive(Sometimes upvotes non original content)
- Low Voting Power
- Sporadic Crashes
Fixes & Future
As of now I have addressed a portion of the encoding problem, and still working on dealing with some languages. Namely Korean and Chinese is having issues.
The algorithm has been altered to lower false positives, I will keep playing around with the strictness levels until I get something that I think is fair.
The bot has low voting power for now, but that will be addressed a bit further along the line.
The sporadic crashes will smooth out over time. Most of the crashes are caused by the above mentioned language issues.
I would love to hear any and all input. I will regularly read the replies posted in these posts, so let me know what you think! Please also let your complaints be known here so that I can try to address them!

With almost all of the content on Steemit being original (Cheetah catching most, if not all, the non-original work) this bot is just pure spam.

Good stuff! Great to see how constructive this tuned out to be.
I would disagree @blueorgy. As valuable as Cheetah detecting plagiarism, it is based on negative reinforcement - whereas @originalworks is positive re-enforcement. Perhaps just a different world view?

Thanks, this was along the lines of what I was thinking as well. I also only ran the code for short bursts to test it. The rules will tighten to only include articles of certain length or more, and within certain categories.
Yeah - I was smiling when the bot visited - a good thing! Especially newbees will appreciate the recognition...
I have spoken with @blueorgy and he has clarified his reasoning. I will be changing the bot algorithm. I think it was broad. I will have it running back up once I figure out how to make it more restricted to people who actually want it.

I appreciate your input! I understand where your concern comes from, and I don't think that this will be an issue with this bot.
I'm still in early stages, and I will be making various adjustments. I will work on thinking up of ways to tighten the rules in order to make it more localized to writing works.
The goal of this bot is not spam, but curating great original works. Checking originality is just the first step!
FYI, in its current stage I only run it a little while to take care of bugs and other issues.
Hopefully you will be happy with it once I am out of Alpha :)

I am not sure if I understand your question.
The bot will read through all categories and tags if that is what you mean.
Unfortunately, due to Steemit limitations (such as comment every 20 seconds), it will have slight delay between runs and won't be able to catch all articles.
One of the long term goal is to build a list of original writers together, and have @OriginalWorks promote those writers.
Very interesting bot, I just saw one of your comments in one of the users I follow and I consider receives very low payments for the effort he apparently puts in his posts.

I hope so too. This bot isn't intended to create massive payouts for everyone. It is designed to simply promote and foster original content. As I mentioned in another reply though, I do intend on curating all the original writers and coming up with a mechanism to promote them further. It might be resteems, might be draws for prizes. I haven't settled on an exact direction as of yet because I still have to smooth out a lot of bugs first.
Completely agree with that perspective, because in fact, with the amount of original content, votes coming from a bot are not enough to generate direct benefits because of upvotes.
