Personal responsibility

in #elections5 years ago (edited)

We have presidential and EU parlament elections today in Lithuania. People have big hopes for democracy, human rights, social and economic future of our country.

Everyone is asking themselves, how we will be living now? Will our lives be better? Will the chasm between the rich and the poor, between the cities and the provinces will diminish? Will we have more respect for each other as a human being?

Will the new president be such a leader that will keep his promises to create Lithuania a place where everyone would feel good while living here?

While I'm writing these words the new elected President Gitanas Nauseda has just ended his victory speech and on TV I'm watching a special celebratory concert of this occasion.

While all our hopes are high, I think it's important to note that the powers of the President of the Republic of Lithuania are not so great. He cannot unilaterally make decisions in internal politics. He has to collaborate with the parlament and the government. His prerogative is foreign policy and national defence.

I think what is more important than to hope that the new leader will fix every problem in Lithuania is for everyone who is capable in our country to realize the importance of personal responsibility.

Responsibility for the success of our personal future and responsibility for the success of the future of our families.

Doing everything in our power today that our lives would be better tomorrow. Not waiting for some outside force to magically solve every challenge that we face but taking small steps every day towards a happy and fullfilling life.

This includes of course personal financial independence. We all hope that Steem can play a major role for such future to become a reality as well.

We all hope that our platform will go mainstream in the future and as creators, investors and engaged members of the community we are taking steps to help facilitate this process every day.
