ABRAM AND SARAI
Good day ladies and gentlemen. Hope you all are doing awesome today. Happy new week to everyone. Moving on from where we stopped... The last time, we talked about how the people were of one language and wanted to build a tower to reach heaven but God stopped them because He knew they could achieve it because they were united. So He stopped them by dividing their languages and that tower was named Babel. I hope we remember now. So moving on to verse ten of chapter eleven in the book of Genesis.
From verse 10 to verse 26, the bible majorly dwelt on listing out the generations of Shem and how they got married to each other and had children. Moving on...
11:27-29 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
Now we just got to the story of Abraham who was first called Abram, we will get to see how his name changed to Abraham later. So like its above, incase we are asked who the father of Abram was, its simply Terah and he gave birth to three children. Now Abram got married to Sarai as at then. Lets see what happened next.
11:30-32 But Sarai was barren; she had no child. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
First of all, note that we have established the fact that Sarai, Abram's wife was barren, meaning she couldn't or hasn't given birth at that time. And so Abram's father took his children and their wives and made them change loacation. Will this changing of location bring about any change in their lives? We will get to know what happened subsequently.
Thanks so much for reading...
Till I come your way next time...
