"The First Commandment With Promise"......
Our rights and freedoms to live and have abundance grace, blessings, peace and joy to live for so many years could be accomplished if we shall live with the fullness of the "first commandment with promised." Though every is given his or her liberty to live his or her lifestyle, that's why God has given us our freedom to choose between what is good and what is bad, but those freedom have their limits in our own descriptions not forcefully controlled by any third party, the choices are in our hands and whatever we will do with them is our case.
Ephesians 6:1-3
"Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honour your father and mother"
( this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land."
One thing we have to take notice and practise accordingly is how "we will honour our elders, parents and even everyone in our life endeavors." There are many people who fall short as far as this commandment with promise is concerned. There has be a continuous declined of respect to our parents and elders in the coming years, especially in this 21 century. In our era, we claim of haven being acquired much civilization, with lots of Christian teachings which have effected our lives, yet our respects and the manner we honour our parents and elders have depreciated drastically.
Two things that I have noticed to have caused the total declined of respects. To my studies I think they are the main reason why politeness seems to be lacking in our societies.
1.The influential of technological knowledge. Many things have learnt through technology, through that we have developed in knowledge and our living in general. There is no denying that fact, technology have impacted our lives positively than what we thing to have lost. On the other, everything that has advantage also have disadvantages. As long as we continue to improve technologically, we over learn certain things that lead us to lose so many respects for our elders. As technology influence our culture of living and the kind of respect we were giving to our elders formally, our culture such as greetings, collecting loads from our elders and working for them, being under their custody till we marry, looking after them have all lost in our societies.
2.The devil has been also influencing our youth nowadays to lose respect. The devil continues to instill stubborn attitudes in our youth so that they lose respects and obedience to their parents and everyone in their community. As time goes on there have been increasingly disrespect and gross insubordination among the youth. In this case, many youth who even were cultured in their environment full of respectful societies are therefore influenced when they travel to new environment or cities.
In all, I think with the intensive education and and preaching of the gospel in most of our media, most people will be heard and have a changed mind. The Ephesians 6:1-3 is not for children alone, I see it a great message for all of us, in as much as we continue to learn and be under somebody, or as we often say, "respect is reciprocal." We much always hold that believe so that we can grow and be blessed in the Lord.
