Threads 496
'Threads 496' 2017
A mixed media piece incorporating a cyanotype printed onto fabric, threads and copper wire.
I like the idea of an image being copied and transferred several times so that it loses contrast and becomes fragmented. I think of how our own memories can lose clarity over time, sections of information or context can become lost or confused.
For 'Threads 496' I took an old photograph from the 1920's and scanned it, then created a negative. This was then used to make a cyanotype by transferring the image onto fabric using cyanotype chemicals and sunlight.

Very beautiful)))
Thank you, I'm happy you like it! 😁
Looks great, really good detail
The copper works well, but doesn't show up so much in the picture.
Hi @opheliafu. Ooo I love that old Singer machine.
It's not fast, but beautiful to look at. I have an electric one for the big jobs but i still enjoy having this one too.
I like the idea of the work. It was so nice @opheliafu
Superb @bontonstory, glad you enjoyed it.
Very nice lady @opheliafu, excellent technique, congratulations thank you very much for sharing
I appreciate your comment. It is one of my favourite techniques to use, but very time consuming.
