Preparations have begun for the autumn festivities in our house. Working my way towards Halloween at the end of the month I have begun some of my pumpkin and squash drawings. Squashes come in such a range of colours and shapes, they are always an interesting subject to draw and paint. This piece has been made with oil pastel and watercolour on paper using a wax resist technique.
Base layer of watercolour, followed by oil pastel.
Candle wax put over the top to preserve some of the original watercolours before adding more paint.
A third layer of darker tones is added with watercolour.
Put outside to dry, hopefully it won't get eaten by snails!
A bit more orange and red oil pastel added and it's finished. The evening sun has given the picture a bit of a warm glow!!
I don't know if I want to be putting anything near Ned's golden ring or anyone else's come to think of it! 😕
However it does add a certain Gold Finger lushness to it!
Does it fly or 'does time overlap like layers of pasta in a lasagne?' That was my thought whilst swimming this morning, I spent a good 20 minutes visualising the concept. It's scary how my mind wanders, good job I didn't drown!
