Camellias
Good morning sunshine!
The British weather is rather unpredictable at the moment so I took the opportunity to get out in the glorious sunshine and do some drawing and painting this morning.
These pink camellias are in full bloom and one of the nicest spring-flowering shrubs in my garden. This variety seems to bloom a couple of weeks later than the bright red one we have, but I think it's well worth the wait.
I started off with a bit of quick drawing with the paint to get a feel for the form of the petals.
For my second piece I started with a watercolour background on paper, before building up a layer of water-based paint over the top.
I think these two images will find a place sitting on my book shelf as a nice reminder of vibrant spring colours, much needed on rainy days!

I usually have pots of flowers in my garden but this year I haven't had the chance to get them done so probably no flowers for me this year. Your garden Is full of life. :)
I have a lot of shrubs and perennials, I only buy a few bedding plants.
My garden is upside down after getting new fencing, I am hoping to get in there this weekend with hubby to get it sorted
