A Beautiful Fragility

With love comes a beautiful fragility

For this cyanotype I have used hydrangea petals at different stages of decay. The petals that appear white in the picture have been dried and pressed and are pale white in colour. The other petals have begun to decay, leaving just the skeletal structure of the petals veins, these have also been dried and pressed. Even exposed to the harsh elements these delicate petals have maintained their structure. They are both fragile and strong.

Process of making the cyanotype

The images above show the process of exposure. The areas less exposed to the sun appear darker and the areas exposed to the suns UV light appear lighter, until placed in water. In the final image on the bottom right the print has been placed in a water bath and the areas that have not been exposed to UV become light, while the areas that have been exposed to UV light turn blue.

The image above on the left shows the print after its final water rinse, all yellow has been removed. The image on the right is the print hanging up to dry, the blue will become darker over 24 hours.

Would you sell one of these? Absolutely stunning.

I know right?? Wow.

I think one of them would find its way to you at some point @ericvancewalton.

Thank you! I would gladly pay you for it. : )

I love this, beautiful work :)

Gorgeous and so generous of you to share the process as well. I love these, you have a new follower thanks to a resteem from @crowe!

Beautiful work lady @opheliafu congratulations on this beautiful work
have a good weekend

I hope you had a great weekend @jlufer

I am still trying to get a handle on all this artsy process stuff.

It just evades my simple mind LOL

I do try though.

I've read this 4x and my mind is foggier now after the accident I know but I just cannot get a handle on it all -- this cool stuff you do.

Maybe I need to think less and just enjoy it more LOL

(:

Don't worry it's a complicated process! I've been fine tuning it for years and I'm still learning new things each time.

I am going to see if you are in steemit.chat and message you!!!

(:

Cool!!!
Perfect art for you @opheliafu

you are welcome, friend.
You always make a good post, always many people who love it, including me and much different from my post. 😉😉

Very nice work. Thumbs up and resteemed.

Very welcome. I hope you have much success in your work.

beautiful work here. Keep it up :) the last blue one is my favorite

I've never liked words on art before, but this piece is quite nice. Love the flower petal method-it does pair well with the words!

Thank you @realcodysimon, hopefully I have won you over to the words?!

I don't tend to put words in my paintings, but I like to include text in some of my cyanotypes.

Well this work has won me over for this work ;) looked at your posts and gave a follow. your style of flowers is pretty to me

I felt exactly the same way and did the exact same thing. :D

Thank you @realcodysimon and @frostyamber, I'm happy your enjoyed this post!

Very beautiful @opheliafu
