What My Father Told Me #2
(Disclaimer : Not Original Picture)
Chief Friday Onyema is my dad.
The very first chief in my community and a reknown leader. He served his people right, resolving their boundary issues with neighbouring villages, overseeing peace keeping missions and ensured peaceful coexistence in my hometown.
Partnership is the beauty of Life.
While growing up, I despised my father for some reasons. One being that when I expect him to scold some people and even treat them like enemies, he won't.
I thought he was being a coward or lacked the courage to initiate beef and enemity when necessary, not until one day when I had a verbal fight in school with one of my colleagues back then in secondary school. My colleague totally wronged beyond my expectations and I just didn't see reasons why I needed to resolve the whole issue.
Our teacher back then, tried his best to ensure we forgive each other and come back to terms as friends to no avail.
When my dad heard this, he called me to the sitting room. Sat me down and gave me his photo album. Just while I was going through the pictures and asking to know who the strange faces were, he said, "Memories remain bad when we refuse to see the good part of it"
My dad told me that LIFE was built around RELATIONSHIPS. He told me how past friends who could have been enemies all because of their wrong doings ended up helping him in the future.
He asked if I knew he will not always be there for me and I'll have to live by interdepending on people who I have been nice to. He went on to stress that no one has it all. Even the Bill Gates, still need to partner with other firms and people in other to excel.
In conclusion he said, don't be too quick to draw a red line in between a relationship. Always seek to resolve issues. You could keep a distance to negative friends but always create a pathway to relate with them.
LIFE is a phenomenon built on a BLOCKCHAIN called RELATIONSHIP
