Is what I've gained in life more than what I've lost?
Hello steemians
I'm @onlyonefave
From Nigeria
I am really happy to participate in this contest by @Steem4nigeria titled: what I've gained and lost in 2023. Before I proceed, I would like to invite my friends @imohmitch @markeffiong and @davidmarkgeorge to participate in this wonderful contests. I wish all contestants good luck.
This year has had it's ups and downs and it has really pushed to me to the edge. I had set a lot of goals at the beginning of this year but none of them is working out yet😅. I haven't given up though. I use the good things that has happened to me this year to have hope that I'll achieve more. I'll begin with what I've lost.
In February, I lost the scholarship I had due to lack of funds. I had already started and was in my second year but I had to drop because I couldn't afford the bills they were constantly demanding for.
In April I was also defrauded by online scammers dressed as an ushering agency. I was in need of a job and I decided to apply. They asked for form fee, registration fee, uniform fee, all these which I had to go extra mile to source for money to pay.I decided to check their reviews on Facebook and I literally saw the shock of my life. They were fraudsters. I lost the money. It was heartbreaking because I could have invested in a business.
On the first day of 2023, I joined the steemit platform and I haven't regretted it since them. I've learned a lot from here and the most interesting part is that I'm also earning from participating in contests, votes on my posts. It is really encouraging for real. I've learnt to make dishes from other countries, simple creative home decor and health talks which remind me of how to practice healthy living.
In May, I got a new phone, my old one was beyond repair and I was without a phone for months. My sister had to share her phone with me for a while.
I was really held back from posting on steemit, being active on social media and personal stuffs I had to do. I'm happy I got the phone because it'll help me to reach out to people, post on this platform and help in advertising my business.
From my first loss, I've learnt that I should go for cheaper schools, where I'll be able to afford. Or first of all source for scholarship opportunities which will assist me pay the bills in my dream school. This way, I'll be able to cater for my other needs.
From my second loss, I've learnt that I should find authentic information about online platforms before making a decision to join them.I would look for reviews about them from as many platforms as possible. Also, due to how online purchase is growing, some of them are real while some are scammers. I'll be very careful not to send money to someone I haven't seen in person or an agency I know nothing about.
Yeah..I'm making a progress. I'm currently working to earn some money so I can register for a fashion design training program.
Before the year runs out, I plan to build my self spiritually, workout to get my body goals, improve myself intellectually and grow my steem power to 1000sp. I'll do this by actively posting content here, engaging in people's posts and up voting on quality posts.
I also want to start a two years fashion design training. I need a skill that I can use to make money when I get admission to the university.
