The abandoned railway station
I live in Newcastle, South Africa, which played a central part in the Anglo-Boer Wars at the turn of last century. I am also fortunate to be good friends with our local museum curator who helps to bring the history of our town to life for me.
In January we are moving to new business premises in the oldest section of town, and I have already asked him for old photos of where we will be located. The old railway station is behind the premises of our local Saturday auction, so I drive past it every week. It is quite desolate, and dangerous to stop alone there. I feel a strange sense of ease there, which concerns my daughter, as she says it is a highly haunted spot and she is worried about being lulled into a false sense of security. She has already checked the new shop and although it also has quite a few presences the energy is not bad. There is a back section we are not taking that may be rented to attorneys, and she said the energy was very bad there.

It is sad to see how this part of Newcastle looks so dilapidated. No one seems interested in keeping such beautiful history alive.
I agree, it is very sad, and the neglect of history is simply getting worse.
I mentioned in my response to your reply to my post that it sounded like you lived in Arizona. I see now that I am wrong. Collecting petrified wood in Arizona is also illegal.
It is hopefully illegal everywhere. We need to preserve our history.
What makes the place dangerous - the people, the wildlife or the terrain?
We live in South Africa where crime is rampant and being alone, or even with just a couple of people in certain areas is an invitation to mugging, hijacking, rape, or even murder.
