Auction Finds - Oh So Pretty!!!
Most people know by now I like the weird and wonderful when it comes to my online listings, but since I sell absolutely everything, all the pretties make it through too! Here are a few of my lovelier recent listings, but beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
Coronation memorabilia doesn't really do well, there is just so very much of it out there, but this cup is very pretty, and the two handles are unusual.
Vintage bottles, with and without the original bubble bath!
This small box is one of the very rare items I kept for myself. I use it to keep the slips of the (very few!!!) people I allow to buy on credit.
This is a beautifully retro brooch and clip-on earring set.
And while on the subject of kitsch, these little vases are amazingly over the top!
This more restrained collectible vase is made in Israel, which is pretty unusual in itself.
I love this glass measuring jug because it is handmade, and you can see the glass bubbles in the blown glass.
Vintage Italian flatware pieces and a sterling silver fish knife, hallmarked and dated to Birmingham, 1830. The rose detail is superb!!!

Not a fan of the royals, so I'd pass on the memorabilia. But those wooden boxes look great, and even that Isreali pottery. That would be a talking point, if nothing else.

Very lovely vintage bottles and wooden box! The hand made vase and glass measure jug are very desirable. I also like the silver cutlery! This is a very nice collection!

The first blue vase reminds me of one of the robots on Mystery Science Theater. (Do you guys have that in SA?)

It's a show where a guy and a couple of robots trapped in space make fun of campy old movies. So you get to watch a bad old movie while you listen to folks making fun of a bad old movie. It can be surprisingly funny.

Maybe you have better luck selling antique items in Africa. Inherited a whole household of fine china, cut glass, books, clocks and more. Most people have little appreciation for them here. They were supposed to be investments for the future, I would be lucky to give them away. 🐓🐓
I agree with you, I don't have that much luck with what I call the "pretties". Porcelain, glass, etc. I do well with weirder vintage stuff. Maybe hang on to them for a while until they are back in fashion.
