Auction Finds - Odd Assortment
I decided to share a random selection of items I have recently listed for sale on the South African auction site I use. I am so happy to have a steady stream of stock once again. I literally spent 6 solid hours taking photos yesterday!
This beautiful watercolour is painted on raw silk.
Retro EMSA, made in West Germany hard plastic watering can.
Gorgeous decorative kitchen scale.
Various sizes of embroidery transfer patterns of a well known South African church.
Various vintage clothes. High waisted jeans are super popular at the moment. Then there is a crimplene c1960's tennis dress. Can you imagine how hot and sweaty it must have been to play tennis in that dress. The blue & white dress dates from the 1980's and honestly I found it so ugly I debated with myself whether to list it or not. Eventually I listed it for R15 ($1,20) and it ended up having multiple bidders and sold for R85. ($6,90).
Running medals usually sell well, often because of the sponsors, such as Coca-Cola, as they appeal to "brand" collectors. Maybe some also sell to fraudulently declare achievements?!
Beautiful tray with a chinese dragon.
I've sold a few of these R5 coins which are currently in circulation in South Africa. They were quite scarce and I was getting R95 ($7,70) a coin. Over the last month there has been a massive influx of them in town so I think that avenue of income will come to a halt, at least for a while. I have about 20 of them at the moment.
Cute retro cartoon character fridge magnets.
Vintage decorative kitchen tiles.
Lastly, this is bizarre! It is basically a homeopathy computer, but I couldn't find much information about it. At least there are copious notes that were left for the new buyer. I didn't have a clue what to sell it for, so I have tried a starting price of R450 ($36,50). We will have to see what happens!

Hi there...hope you are feeling better again. Gosh my left leg would not fit in that little dress!!!
Thanks...I am :) I could probably use those jeans as a scarf!
Bahahahaha! True that.... Gosh I wake up so early in the morning and have really been thinking about getting some exercise but can't force myself to do it....lol! At least I am thinking about it.
It's so difficult to motivate yourself. I know I feel better when I do, but I still prefer to go home to a glass of wine!
I enjoy most the medal of the 21.1 km night race, because I'm a half marathon runner.
It's good to know why people appreciate the items :)
