My Best lesson of the year came from…
A stranger, an elderly gentleman. He was carrying a large bag and I asked him if he wanted a lift.When I stopped to drop him off. He said I have no money to pay you, but if I offered you 1 million dollars or good advice which would you take?
I said the 1 million dollars of course.He responded with, “Most people have this all wrong!”I will give you three pieces of advice as you head back out the street:
1. It’s lunch time and some cattle will be crossing the road. You don't want to agitate them. Drive slowly, wait and let them pass.
2. There is a deep hole on the left side of the street. Many people have loss control there.
3. There is gravel from trucks transporting material on the road. Drive cautiously or you could pick up a skid.Then he said, “All the money in the world cannot compare to good advice from a wise source. Always be quick to gain wisdom and not wealth.”As I drove, he really had me thinking.
So today I want to ask you, if someone like Richard Branson or Bill Gates offered you 1 million dollars or advice, in all Honesty which would you take?
I want USD 1 million not Ruppiah !!

That is some good advice. I think we don't pay much attention to the advice until things happen to us. That's the thing we have to think about here.

What he said is right you can't compare some good advices from a wise source to a million dollars but you see it depends on the advice and situation you are in.
In the other hand a million dollar is also much more worthy than a good advice depending on the situation.
And I guess the most time a million dollars will get you quickly what you need.
Let's answer on what you asked on the latter part and I will give some more perspective.
If Bill Gates gave you a choice of either some couple thousand dollars or some advices from his experience you may take advices and he will go on to tell you every experience he had and his perspective of life that might not fit with you, also think if you got some thousand dollars you could full fill some needs that most of us have.
In conclusion,
I will say that it very much depends on the situation and you have to think properly based on the situation and your desires and that's not gonna be the same.

it depends. if im the type of person who dont have any plans for my life and i dont know how to use that money in order to put me in a position to be financially free in the future then id definitely go for advice and wisdom because i may be 1 million richer but due to my incompetence and lack of know-how regarding handling my finances then eventually im just gonna waste it all. but if im the type of person who knows how to use it properly and have plans for my future like having a business or investing the money on something in order to better secure my future but i just lack the finances to pursue it then id defo go for the money. great post @omosexy! :)
