Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of human life. Anxiety is a sudden feeling of worry, apprehension, fear or nervousness.

Anxiety is a natural human reaction to stressful situations, it could interfere with activities of daily living, how we feel and behave.
When faced with potentially harmful situation, there is the release of the hormone adrenaline which causes anxiety reaction, this prepares a person physically to either confront or flee the situation, this is known as the fight or flight reaction.
Anxiety could also revolve around work, money, family life, health and other crucial issues that demands attention and not necessarily the fight or flight reaction. Anxiety could be triggered as a result of a traumatic life event, fear of unknown, or an underlying health issues (heart disease, diabetes, drug abuse or withdrawal)

Outcome of depression

  • Depression
  • Difficulty in sleeping
  • Headache
  • Loss of concentration
  • Social isolation

The following tips could help relieve anxiety

  • Learn how best to relieve stress
  • Apply simple relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercise, meditation, long bath, etc
  • Talk with a trusted person
  • The underlying cause of the anxiety should be known and well taken care of.
