I'm Arin. I'm from Indonesia. I just want to share more about my country, Indonesia. I also posted many more about Indonesia and environmental science on my blog, Angphotorion

And trough some photography that I put here, I wish it can be affordable to this adventure journal.

Indonesian culture

The Unitary State of the Republic Indonesia (NKRI), is a country in Southeast Asia which is crossed by the equator and is located between the mainland continents of Asia and Australia, and between the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean.

Indonesia geographics

Indonesia is the world's largest archipelago consisting of 17,504 islands. The alternative name commonly used is Nusantara. With a population of nearly 270,054,853 people in 2018, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and the world's most populous Muslim country, with more than 230 million people.

Indonesia has a variety of cultures and customs. All of this is influenced by Indonesia's long history. In the past, Indonesia was divided into several kingdoms. Then, in 1941 the existing islands formed one soul, namely Indonesia.

1. Food

Do you ever suppose before? Indonesia does have a variety of special foods that taste appetizing. The price is affordable and all the food reflects the habits of Indonesian society.

Rendang | The most delicious food in Indonesia

Do you know Rendang has been nominated for the world's first tastiest food?
It's because of the rich blend of spices and seasonings. Rendang or randang is a meat dish originating from Minangkabau. This dish is produced from a long low temperature cooking process using various spices and coconut milk. The cooking process took hours until all that was left were the dark, black pieces of meat and bran.

Soto | Indonesian specialties that are fortified.

Soto, sroto, sauto, tauto, or coto are Indonesian specialties such as soup made from meat and vegetable broth. The most commonly used meats are beef and chicken, but some use pork or mutton.

Tumpeng | Indonesia Rice food, usually for wedding and special event

Tumpeng or tumpeng rice is the food of the Javanese people where the presentation of the rice is shaped in a cone and arranged together with the side dishes. The processed rice used is generally in the form of yellow rice, plain white rice, or uduk rice.

2. Traditional Event

In Indonesia, the word "adat" was only used around the end of the 19th century. Previously this word was only known to the Malay community after their cultural encounter with Islam in the 16th century. This word can be read, among other things, in the Malay State Law. So, What is "Adat" in Indonesia looks like?

In Indonesia, traditional clothing has various type. It's causes from many island and different tribal backgrounds.

Indonesia Traditional Clothing | Kebaya

Kebaya is a traditional blouse worn by Indonesian women made of thin material worn with a sarong, batik, or other traditional knitwear such as songket with colorful motifs.

The classic Javanese kebaya has a thin, fluffy blouse that is worn after the kemben, a batik cloth covering a woman's body. As shown here, a kebaya was worn by Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hayu, Putri Yogyakarta.

3. Traditional Dancing and Travel Destination

Indonesia's territory has a high diversity of living things so that by some parties the Indonesian ecological region is referred to as "Mega biodiversity" or "high diversity of living things" commonly known as Indomalaya or Malesia. Besides, Indonesia has travel destination and traditional dancing that influenced from it's geographic.

The Raja Ampat Islands are a series of four adjacent islands located west of the Bird's Head (Vogelkoop) part of Papua Island. Administratively, this cluster is under the Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua Province.

The archipelago is now a destination for divers who are interested in the beauty of its underwater scenery. The four island clusters that are members are named according to the four largest islands, namely Waigeo Island, Misool Island, Salawati Island, and Batanta Island.

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur is a Buddhist temple located in Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. This temple is located approximately 100 km southwest of Semarang, 86 km west of Surakarta, and 40 km northwest of Yogyakarta.

Merbabu Mount

Mount Merbabu is a Strato-type volcano (see Volcano) which is geographically located at 7.5 ° S and 110.4 ° East. Administratively, this mountain is located in Magelang Regency on the western slope and Boyolali Regency on the eastern and southern slopes, Semarang Regency on the northern slope, Central Java Province.

Mount Merbabu Lanscape

Mount Merbabu is known through pre-Islamic texts as Mount Damalung or Mount Pam (a) rihan. On the slopes there was once a famous hermitage and was visited by Bujangga Manik in the 15th century. According to etymology, "merbabu" comes from a combination of the words "meru" (mountain) and "abu" (ash). This name only appeared in Dutch records.

Bromo Mount

Mount Bromo or in Tengger language spelled "Brama", is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. This mountain has an altitude of 2,329 meters above sea level and is located in four districts, namely Probolinggo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Lumajang Regency, and Malang Regency.

For residents around Mount Bromo, the Tengger tribe, Mount Bromo / Mount Brahma is believed to be a sacred mountain. Every year the Tenggerese hold a Yadnya Kasada or Kasodo ceremony. This ceremony takes place at a temple under the foot of Mount Bromo and continues to the top of Bromo. The ceremony is held from midnight to early morning every full moon around the 14th or 15th of the month Kasodo (tenth) according to the Javanese calendar.

Karapan Sapi Festival

Karapan sapi (Madurese language: Karapan sapèh) is a term to refer to a cow race originating from Madura Island, East Java. In this race, a pair of cows pulling a kind of wooden cart (where the jockey stands and controls the pair of cows) is driven in a sprint race against other pairs of cows.

The track is usually about 100 meters long and the races can last from ten seconds to one minute. Several cities in Madura hold cow races in August and September each year, with the final match at the end of September or October in the former City of the Residency, Pamekasan to compete for the Presidential Cup.

Reog Ponorogo

Reog (Javanese script: ꦫꦺꦪꦺꦴꦒ꧀, Réyog) is a traditional dance.

This is an open arena that functions as folk entertainment, contains magical elements, the main dancer is a lion-headed person decorated with peacock feathers, plus several masked dancers and lumping horse riding. Reog is one of the cultural arts originating from the northwestern part of East Java and Ponorogo is considered the real city of Reog's hometown. The city gate of Ponorogo is decorated with warok and gemblak figures, two figures who also appear when Reog is shown. Reog is one of the regional cultures in Indonesia that is still very thick with mystical things and strong mysticism.

One example for profession in Indonesia that society do to sustain their life.

So, that's all I can share to you about culture in my country, Indonesia. And then, I want to you know that Bali is a part from Indonesia. Bali is one from 34 Province in Indonesia. If you have a chance to go Bali, I will explain some information to you later. See you here :).
