Drawing #8 - Progress of a picture - Luffy Sketch
Hello Steemit friends:
My friends and I are having a drawing contest and decided to draw characters from the anime, One Piece. My favorite character is Luffy, primarily because he's very audacious regardless of how dangerous and intimidating a situation appears, almost to the point of being oblivious to danger. Yet, in numerous scenes, we find out that he just doesn't care how life threatening something or someone is, he's going to go for the treasure regardless. So that's who I decided to draw! It isn't completely finished yet, but I still wanted to share my progress with it.

I first started out with a light general sketch of the positioning of the body and slowly started shading a little:

It almost looks like his body is on fire while he is surrounded by ice, but my goal was to show some movement in the picture and show that he is breaking the ground beneath him, but that is going to take a bit of work.
I cleaned up the lines in this final picture and erased as much of the "sketchiness" of the picture as I could:

I thought the fire kind of looked good around Luffy, but I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep it in the background or not. I kept the shading in the arm just for a small shading reference when I start coloring the picture. This picture has a ways to go: After I decide and finish fixing the background and tweak some other things (his hands and feet), I'm going to trace the picture with a copic multiliner before I start coloring it with copics. It will be my first time coloring a picture with copics, so fingers crossed! Hopefully I don't accidentally smear ink across his face or anything like that.
