What Entrepreneurs Need to Know about Customer Service.

in Project HOPE4 years ago

It is no news that the business world has started experiencing what should be called a 'major revolution' when it comes to the way customers react to the experience they get.
The new way customers react is simply: you have to give them what they want, the exact way they want it, or within a twinkle of an eye, they have gone somewhere else.
Power is no longer with the entrepreneurs/ sellers as it use to be before, it is now in the hands of those who purchase and that is the customers.

We now live in a generation of choices, where we have customers who have better exposure, better information and the ability to get whatsoever they want irrespective of the distance.
The availability of telephones, e-mails, online shopping have made it super easy to order what you want and get them with a snap of your finger.

One thing entrepreneurs need to understand is that, any company that fails to provide quality, good price as well as speed will be kicked out of the system in no time.
With the evolution we experience daily, the only and the best way to keep customers is to be able to provide value for every penny they spend while shopping with you.

I am going to share some smart ways to keep these customers which is a trick carried out by most successful businesses.

  • The first thing to do is to learn to reorganize your business around your customers, so many people only focus their targets on their products and do not even care about feedbacks.
The best thing to do, is to re -strategize and turn the table around to focus on your customers more. This however does not mean that the standard of the product should be compromised.

  • It is very important to understand the idea of keeping old customers and winning new ones.
None of the two should be under rated as it should be taken with absolute seriousness.

  • Every employee should be trained properly about customer service .

  • Do not ever take technology for granted, evolve and move with the system.

Thanks a lot for reading, I am @oluwatobiloba and I wish you the best in your entrepreneurship journey.

This publication made me think about the company I work for.
There are some flaws, because of the previous management.
They're restructuring. And you're right, the important thing about customer contact and understanding.
That's something the robots won't be able to do. I don't want to say ever, but not right now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts @oluwatobiloba

Thanks for coming around @josevas217, I also do not think that robotics will be able to completely replace humans especially in the area of customer service.

Customer service? Where? I find mostly robots here in Europe. Difficult to speak with humans. If I find a human, maybe the person doesn't know enough. If I write an e-mail, they send me uniformized answers, parts of some FAQ.

WOW, over here in Nigeria we do not have such level of technology as customer service is still greatly required.

Hello @deathcroos
Funny you should say that. The reality of robotics is perhaps more present in Europe, in these parts of Latin America still moving most of the business of .dorma personal. I think there is still some resistance from the population to understand that AI is a reality. Some people don't use telephone services because of that, because they are machines that will attend to them.
It's a new paradigm. I think.

Who needs robots if we have GRANMA? :) (And she isn't living far away. :(( )

ha ha ha

that video is great @deathcross
I just saw him.
A youtubers grandmother, how nice...
But really, for a robot with a grandmother like that... ha ha ha

Dear @oluwatobiloba

Short but interesting read :)

Power is no longer with the entrepreneurs/ sellers as it use to be before, it is now in the hands of those who purchase and that is the customers.

Hard to disagree with that statement. Customers currently have more to say comparing to older days. However (somehow) solid customer service is still something very rare.

Yours, Piotr

Which is the reason why more companies should work hard to create a great and better customer service.

It is vital for any business not to underestimate its customers. It is important that they always have constant interaction and communication, I think that today the aspects of user care and the faculty of service have been abandoned, they are put aside and the customer experience begins to be bad. I hope that with technology things move more to the side of customer service and not so much to the part of production.

I really do hope so too, because this will really help the growth of the community itself.

Resteemed and upvoted :)

Oluwatobiloba,
You have made some valuable points about customer service in this article.
My two cents is that good customer service should be based on true customer empathy.
I can see an opportunity here.
If entrepreneurs realize how important it is to offer excellent customer service based on true understanding and care about customer needs, they may be able to recover some of their bargaining power.
That's the onley way.
You have to give to get.
